Starfleet Museum builds anyone?
Posted by Woody on Thursday, April 15, 2004 6:25 PM
I just wondered if anyone has built or considered building any of the "early" starships featured on the Starfleet Museum site? http://www.starfleet-museum.org/ I know a kit is available of the Wasp class, any others out there?

I bumped this back up because I'm curious what you think about these Pre-Trek designs.

Some neat ships there Woody. I personally like the Franz Joseph Designs from the Star Fleet Technical Manual. Got the PNT conversion for the Saladin Class Destroyer that I can't wait to get started on.

My favorites are the ships from the age of the Earth/Romulus war. I have found several CG desktop images of the ships from that age. One of them could be an easier scratchbuild project for me.

I was thinking of either this one (the one in the foreground):

Or this one:

Those are sharp images. I think I like the first design best. Is the second ship a carrier?

The Second one is a 'Yorktown' class carrier that carriers 5 'Minotaur' class fighters. The first 'Armirillo' class' is a small cruiser and would be an easier scratch build for me to start with.

Which ever one you decide, I hope you go for it. Either one would make a very unique model.

I thought I'd bump this up as the master himself, Masao, has joined us. He is a great guy and his site will engulf you with all it's eye candy! http://www.starfleet-museum.org/
