Forbidden Planet Raygun

I 3D printed this blaster from Forbidden Planet. printed in PLA and sprayed with tamiya gloss black and gold. i haven't done the silver line work yet as i think black looks better. I put a button trigger, but no electronics in it yet. i think the main body took 11-14 hours to print.

That looks pretty good.  I've seen it in at least two movies and I think a episode of The Twilight Zone.  I'm tempted to look for one.

Looks great, does it do any FX type stuff? or just a static model? I always loved what Hollywood thought our futuristic space weapons would look like.

For a while I was considering doing one of the ship's blaster batteries.  I have the drawings, but never got around to gathering all the things I needed for the project.

Looks just like the original. A true blast from the past.

I first saw that movie with my Mom and Dad at a Drive-in theatre in Witchita, Kansas when it first came out back in '56 and I was just a wee tot. That's a wonderful memory I will always ت have.

The only surviving cast member now is Earl Holliman and that's probably because of all the distilled spirits Robbie synthesized for him.

              Even now, it's still my very most favorite Sci-fy movie of all.

Oh wow, that's soooo cool!

I need to pull out my copy and watch it again!

Hi;

 I don't know what happened to my reply from yesterday? So here goes. I thought, til you said Printed, that you had worked that MAGIC with Bottles and other plastic parts.

It's always been one of my favorite movies, right alongside Time Machine and War of the Worlds.  Hard to believe that the shiip's captain went on to to Police Squad and Airplane.

It's still fun to watch those old movies and see who was in them, like Atlantis the Lost Continent, World without End, Queen of Outerspace, and so on.

I would love tohave one of those guns, it would look good next to my Colonial Laser.
