Finished this up for Steve/Modelcrazy's Steampunk GB - he said Cyberpunk was okay too. There are a few rough spots but I wanted it finished.

Shes fantastic.  Absolutely beautiful painting/blending on the skin tones.   I like her brightwork as well. Wonderful piece.

Thanks,

John

Truly superb finish...but this figure still creeps me out every time I see it. Indifferent

Thanks guys!!!

Real G: I guess I could paint some wrinkles or grey hair?

Greg: Lol, yeah it's creepy. One of the things that I first got me interested in the figure.

Add me to the "creeped out" list.  That is just too weird for me.

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

Yeah, I'd go with about 50% cute and 50% creepy.

As I said it's what got me to thinking 'I want to buy and paint that.'

She sure would've made for a different sort of first Terminator movie...

LOL!

Actually outside Terminator III and the Terminator TV show it's funny how many movies there have been about killer androids that look female.

'Eve of Destruction' Gregory Hines vs. a petite blond woman who's actually a killer android. It's been twenty years since I've seen this and I don't remember it as being very good.

'Robotrix' a mix of 'Robocop' and 'Terminator' - a female Japanese and Chinese android track down a criminal male Japanese android. It's awful- honestly so bad it's funny. I'd recommend it except lots and lots of nudity and two very graphic rape scenes that kinda grossed me out.

'Alita: Battle Angel' not really a Terminator knock-off though it screenplay was written by James Cameron. It's actually good, I'd say a great film about a pint-sized female cyborg.

Not to forget the Major, though she's a cyborg, not a full-blown android.  Both in the anime and in the live-action movie, she's rendered as quite the hottie.

Hmm, never seen 'Ghost in the Shell' . I need to catch up to the anime version. I've heard the live action wasn't that good but it's worth a shot.

Hi,

I hope that I'm not going too off track here, but with regards to "Ghost in the Shell", there are several different variants, each a bit different than the other.  For me the two anime movies were very visual but kind of had a "dense and moody" feel to them.  The "Stand Alone Complex" setting and protrayal was a fair bit different and finally the "Arise" focuses on pre-"Stand Alone Complex" stuff and seemed to kind of reboot some stuff, if I am remembering correctly.  As such, between these, the live action moview and the Manga stuff there are a "handful" of different depictions of the main character, with varying back stories etc.

PS.  Gamera, your model cyborg/android looks great

Cliff,

I'm not sure on your standard of a "rough spot". Let's just say I wish I had your rough spots! LOL. She looks amazing!

Thanks guys!

PFJN2: Oh gee, I didn't know it was that involved! Big thanks!!! I'm going to have to do more research. With 'Battle Angel: Alita' I ended up buying a friggin' pile of manga and I'm not really a comics reader. I hope I don't have to go down that rabbit hole again!

Bruce: Thanks but if you blow up the photos there are a few messed-up spots on the legs and the shading isn't as good as I wanted on the shoulders. I think the lighting for once helped a lot!

First off, this is super cool! And it is a little creepy, but I like it!

Gamera
I guess I could paint some wrinkles or grey hair?

If this were a digital sculpt in ZBrush, then yes adding a layer for pores, wrinkles, etc on the skin would definitely bring it to the next level. I know how to do this in ZBrush, but I have no idea how to approach this in a real world model! But the skin is so smooth it does seem a little strange. Your painting is great, so it's not a fault with that at all.

Hey thanks Jim!!!

I kinda like the too perfect skin to be honest- it adds to the creepy 'uncanny valley' look of the figure! Stick out tongue
