Love the idea of combining the model + owner's manual as a display!

Looking forward to seeing the final product.

Thanks guys for the help and advice

I have to admit I'm not a big Star Wars fan myself , my brother is ( a tragic fanatic ) , I'm more of a helicopter model builder

That Haynes Millennium Falcon book sounds interesting , so I have ordered it from an online book store here in Sydney ( Booktopia ) , cost was just under $30 including shipping .

I intend on displaying the finished model in a perspex display box mounted on a timber board and wooden legs . I can display the Haynes manual in there as well .

I won't proceed until the book arrives , I have plenty of other helicopter builds to continue on with in the meantime  .

Thank's again everyone and it's great to be building model kits again .

Such a great kit to have fun with!  I recommend watching some of episode 5 or 6 and picking out your favorite scenes.  There are so many variables with lighting, different scale filming props, etc. and part of the fun is identifying what paint color works for you!  Have fun and enjoy the journey.

What I can see of the interior looks amazing.

I've not done this model and I don't have specific color mfg. references but if your looking for image references to compare the accuracy of the kit's color scheme I would recommend the Hayne's Owner Manual.

I've used the Hayne's Millenium Falcon Owner Manual.  It has multiple angle shots of the Empire/Jedi CG version of the Falcon and several close ups of the actual model. Good reference for color placement and weathering.  There are also many different interior shots that could help determine how well the colors align.  Usually can be found on Amazon for under $20 used.

Good luck with your build! Looking forward to seeing how it progresses.

Oh that's awesome and welcome back to the hobby!

Personally I think I'd just pick up one of the new Bandai kits and start over but redoing something you did years ago is very cool!

Wish I could help you but SW isn't really my thing. There's lots of other guys here like Bluenote that should be able to help you out though.

I'm working on this exact same kit right now actually.  I am not too far along, basically I have done the bottom half of the Falcon, with the landing gear.  I went with Tamaya AS-20 Insignia White spray can for the base colour of the Falcon.  For parts in the instructions that call for Dark Ghost Grey, I went with Tamiya xf19.  For medium grey, I went with XF20.

For the cutaway part, the interior base colour I will be using is XF20 (AS-28 for the spray can).

From the research I have done online, the AS20 for the base colour of the Falcon seems to be the most popular.  I do like it and it seems accurate.  I have no idea about the rest of the colours as far as accuracy, they look nice to me though.

I am using Tamiya panel line accent colours and Tamiya dry brush weathering masters for the weathering.  (I love these, makes weathering so easy without having to use the airbrush!)

I don't have a photo sharing account, so unfortunately I can't share pictures at the moment.

Hi everyone .

I'm just getting back into model building after an 8 year break , I've moved house twice during that time and have finanlly had the opportunity to set up a kit building room at the back of the garage

Anyway , I wanted to rebuild the Millennium Falcon I put toghther about 15 years ago and the front of the kit was warpped  and I only partitially painted the inside cut a way section and didn't paint any of the exterior .

I've managed to seperate 95% of the kit and have given most of the interior parts a few coats of FS36375 (hobby color H308)

I'm not sure if the kit instructions for paint colors is accurate , so I thought I would ask before I proceed any further .

I'll post pics of my progress thus far and grately appreciate any help with the rebuild

john .
