Bandai Razor Crest . . . Finished . . .
Posted by fotofrank on Thursday, January 13, 2022 1:53 PM

This will be my first finished build for 2022. Hopefully I'm hitting my stride for 2022.

Anyway, this the tiny Bandai Razor Crest. This will be "a Razor Crest" not "The Razor Crest". There are no decals in this kit just stickers so it's going to go sans decoration so to speak. The model will get a little weathering and panel line highlighting but not much else.

The paint is AK Xtreme Metal Aluminum over Mr. Color Gloss Black. I'm going to let it sit overnight and tomorrow I'll give it a sealer of Tamiya Gloss Clear.

Thanks for looking in.

Well, here it is: My first build for 2022, the Bandai Razor Crest. Really not too tough to put together. Primer is Mr. Color Gloss Black. Metal is AK Aluminum misted over the gloss black primer. This is "a Razor Crest" not "The Razor Crest". I did not use the stickers supplied in the kit so there is no color stripe on the nose of the ship. The windows are hand painted Mr. Color Gloss Black. Panel lines and details are highlighted with Tamiya Black Panel Liner. Gun barrels are Model Master Gun Metal Enamel. A quick easy build to start off the New Year. Now I'm ready for one of the 1/72 scale Razor Crest models from AMT and/or Revell.

Nice one!

Even though I am founder and president of the Hawaii branch of the Bandai Crap A$$ Sticker Hater's Club, a friend actually used the kit stickers to good effect.

That looks great!  I know that a lot of people have put this kit down because of its small size but yours look stunning and would make a great desktop display piece.

Nice finish, Frank!

I'm wrapping up my own Razor Crest right now as well and all I have left to do is replicate those markings. I'm stuck motivating myself to start masking lol.

She is a superb little kit, but I'd have loved to see the landing gear included. I'm over the moon about how the details jump out after a wash.

I may have to get another one, as I can imagine another paint scheme I'd like to try. Basically metallic finish with blue or red livery.

I can't wait to get my hands on his new ship! That starfighter is nuts!

Nice and shiney, just like the Mandolorian himself. Well done, Frank.

Awesome job, I've been tempted to get one myself.

Now to do an after photo of a crater with a Beskar spear lying in the center...Stick out tongue

Thanks, guys. The kit is literally "shake and bake". Whens it's all assembled, there are no seams that have to dealt with. I may get another one just for fun, maybe build it as a "what-if".

Mike, I have two of the Naboo N-1 Starfighter kits. One is almost completely assembled but now I have to rethink how it should look when completed. The other is still unassembled. I'm trying to figure out how to make it look stripped down like the N-1 seen in the Bobba Fett Mandalorian episode.

Plus, I have on order through a friend with really good connections, an AMT 1/72 scale Razor Crest that comes with figures of Din Djarin and Grogu. Should be fun!

I like the approach you took.  It made the inherit details of that little model just pop out!

Excited that the Revell 1/72 version is out!

Thanks, PhoenixG. I didn't do anything special to the model. I gave it a primer of Mr Color Gloss Black and then AK Aluminum. Kinda clean and factory fresh mine is. In another thread, M. Brindos completed the same kit but he made his model look used just like on the TV show. A really nice little model for sure.

The Revell 1/72 Razor Crest? I didn't know the kit had been release here in the U.S. I have the AMT Razor Crest on order along with a couple of 3D printed figures of the Mandalorian and Grogu. I'll have to keep an eye out for the Revell kit.

It was part of the Finescale team's New Product Rundown.  Technically it is Revell Germany.  You can pose with the ramp down and it has pretty nicely done interior.
