I am hoping the Madox is well detailed. It will look nuts all weathered up. But my burning question is - will the kit come with an ebi bento (fried shrimp box lunch) and a pair of chopsticks?

ROfL, I remember that scene!  Right after he crashed into the convenience store IIRC.  It would be hilarious if they did that.  Of course then they have to allow it posed it open with a bust of Koji to make it complete.

That would be an awesome diorama.  Oh man, now I want to do one where it was getting it gassed up. Big Smile

Gamera,

I only ever once sorta successfully painted a vinyl kit, which was the Halcyon Space Jockey.  I used Floquil lacquers that seemed OK.  But after a number of years, the model got sticky.  I recall a hardware store spray paint that claimed to be able to paint vinyl and other flexible plastic, but never tried it.  It might have been a good base coat.

Yeah Goodsmile Co has a decidedly ecclectic range.  I am considering Giant Robo, as I am a huge fan of designer Makoto Kobayashi.

I did a few vinyl kits- Geometric Designs Captain Picard and AMT's Doctor 'Bones' McCoy. I forgot what I used to paint them. I think it was either Tamiya acrylic or Model Master acrylic. You're right- the wrong paint will remain sticky forever. I used the little extra parts I clipped off (the flash more or less) as to test the paint before I applied it to the figure.*

* That is after I learned the hard way and had to strip the main body of the figure.

PS: Not really my thing but those are some really cool looking figures and mechs.

Madox-01 was one of my all-time favorite OVAs.

I have the 1/12 vinyl kit, but never built it.  Never had any luck painting vinyl kits - no matter what paints I tried, the vinyl always went sticky.  I tried Testors enamels, Tamiya acrylics, and Floquil lacquers.

But now a plastic kit is coming, so I can use the vinyl kit as a reference for any missing detail.

I wonder if they will do Ellie's Hammerhead suit, or Kilgore's Tarantula tank?

LOL, I just rewatched Maddox-01 so this was great timing.  Another item to add to my wish list!

That Cain model looks impressive.

Pictures or it didn't happen?

Cain will be in scale with their ED-209, so it's going to be pretty big.

Giant Robo will be 24cm, about 9-1/2" tall, a little too giant maybe.

A friend in Japan has informed me that the Goodsmile Company has announced a slew of new mecha kits, mostly from anime but others from US movie properties.

Probably top of the list is the Power Loader from Aliens, in 1/12 scale AND with a Ripley figure.  The other is Cain from Robocop II, which is probably a follow-on to their ED-209 kit.  Man I hope they do a Robocop, since the die cast/plastic toy they sell costs as much as ED-209!

If anyone remembers the Japanese OVA "Maddox-01: Metalskin Panic", the titular powered suit will also be a kit!  I am over the moon, having wanted a proper plastic kit since the 1990s.  No scale was mentioned.  Other anime based kits include Big O and Giant Robo (the Makoto Kobayashi one, not Johnny Sokko).  Forgive me if I sound like I'm gibbering in Greek, I'm just so excited.
