Lost in Space Crash.
Posted by Jim Kirk on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 7:15 AM

Hopefully there is some interest here for this type of model work. I am a huge fan of Irwin Allen and his stable of Science Fiction Fantasy programs. I was always impressed with the crash sequence from the original Lost in Space TV series. I wanted to recreate that. So I scratch built a 1/18 (approximately)Flight deck of the Jupiter 2(GEMINI 12 in the pilot)as well as utilized my 9.6" GEMINI 12 Build along with my Moebius 1/35 Jupiter 2.

The flying/crashing of the model was done the same way as the original. Two wires run through two brass tubes on either side of the ship. The model slides down the wires.

The model was filmed outside(my backyard), in natural sunlight, and composited into footage/pictures of the location of the actual filming area(Red Rock, Tronia Pinniacles).

The interior flight deck was scratch built using sheet styrene and various other building materials, based on actual studio blueprints of the full size set.

More footage will be added shortly, but i thought I would share what I have done so far.

For some reason the forum will not allow me to attach the link to my video, so You will have to click on the URL, paste it in your browser.

Highest Regards,

Mark Myers

This is, without a single doubt, the COOLEST thing I have ever seen on a model forum.
