1:350 TOS Enterprise from Polar Lights
Posted by Doc Hu on Saturday, June 3, 2023 8:35 PM

I am beginning a build of the TOS Enterprise 1:350 Polar Lights kit. I have the MKA007 lighting kit. I am trying to decide on painting the main parts of the ship. The instructions on the box give a color for the main assemblies but also state that the color of the kit itself is closer to the original TV Model and painting is an option. I usually build 1:350 WW II ships aand I usually use the paint job to cover minor blemishes and seams and various issues either caused by the kit or my own "clumsiness". In this case the variius clear and colored windows etc need to be placed prior to assembly. The problem is that if I wait until after assembly I will have to mask all of those windows. If I paint the parts prior to assembly I may end up with seams that need touched up probably by hand. So, before I purchas the correct paints should I just accept the color of the parts "out of the box" or should I dry fit the parts and paint them hoping that the the seams will not be noticable after final assembly or use a touch up to cover any issues present after asembly.

Also if anyone has experienc with this kit I am very interested in you advice.

This is my final chapter of the USS Enterprise, past CV 6, present (more or less) CVN 65 and this kit USS Enterprise NCC 1701

Thanks in advance,
