Finding the Ranger from Interstellar
Posted by Josh Ryder on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 7:28 PM

I know that Moebius Models had a run of the Ranger craft from the film Interstellar, and after rewatching it my interest is caught.

However I'm having trouble finding a kit out in the wild. There's always a few floating around the electronic bay- however I wondered if there's a better source that anyone knows?

Thanks in advance.

I did a search on Scalemates, to see what anyone might have uploaded.  The only kit returned is the Moebius kit, along with some aftermarket items:

https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?fkSECTION%5B%5D=All&q=INTERSTELLAR+%28Movie%29+ranger+interste*

Now, Scalemates is only as good as the people who share content there.  That there were no kits returned other than Moebius' kit doesn't necessarily mean that there aren't any others, just that if there are, no one has yet added that info to Scalemates.

I have not looked here myself, but have you tried CultTVman's site?

Off the top of my head, those are the two things that come to mind.

Good luck in your search!

I'd say your chances of finding one of these kits at a non high price is just about zero. It's a licensed item, meaning there was an agreement on how many to be made, and how much the studio got paid for the license. Moebius made a fixed number of these kits to that license; the run was done, and to do more, there would have to be another agreement. Since the kit has never been reissued since 2015, it seems unlikely there is enough demand to warrant the licensing $$$s for another production run. Good luck in finding one.

I found a 3D printed version on Etsy (https://www.etsy.com/listing/1500916888/ranger-from-interstellar-movie-plastic) made by "Bohimso" but it's $102. It looks like it's a little bigger than the Moebius (11.7" L vs Moebius' "over 10" long")

The cheapest I've seen the Moebius kit is $165 on ebay. (https://www.ebay.com/itm/375128066988)
