A homeless B-17 and a Nuke Sub the right size

Crazy, Crazy!

I know, call me nuts. I got this idea looking at the details inside the Monogram large B-17! I measured the fuselage and it will pair nicely with a Nuke Sub I have with the reactor and stuff inside. I also have a few pieces of the old Nuke subs with the clear sides.Hmmm..... LaTER!

Love it!  A nuclear powered B-17.  Sounds very Buck Rogers.

What's the plan, fuse the nuke subs hull with the wings and nose of the B-17?  Or simply stuff the nuke's guts into the B-17?

Either way would look cool especially with being able to see the reactors.

You ever read "Armageddon 2419", the story that inspired Buck Rogers?  It's a classic bit of sci-fi pulp fun.

The NB-36 made hundreds of flights, about half with a running reactor.

Oh No!

She would be a B-77. A true inheriter of the B-17 toughness but with more than that single ability, surpassed by her ability not only to fly by use of hydraulically retracted wings,  But how about this, To go where no man has gone before, or have a dinner in the Marianas Trench with the fishes ala 20,000 Leagues under the Sea. Oh! and some of that hardware too!

The Pilots area in thought only, could be raised ala,"Nautilus "fashion to help see where the next seacraft to attack would be! With retractable saw tooth riser in the center. Side windows on the 17? Well, the lounge/library area with a pipe organ off to the side and shelves of books!

I'm gonna stop now, I have another ship to build before the parts get to me.

I love the old Si-Fi, fun, easy reading.

TB - Did this idea get off the ground?

It does sound like it would have been a fun, fantasy, kitbash project
