Sounds cool! I finally got around to watching 1999 about two years or so ago, the Eagles were IMHO the best part of the show. And the Hawk was really cool too, I wish they had figured a way to work them into more episodes.

MPC Space 1999 Hawk Mk IX Scales

This will likely be a multi-part posting in the same thread. I recently watched the video parts grope of the MPC 1/48 Space 1999 Hawk Mk IX. At the end, I am going to contradict Tim & Aaron about the scale/s of both MPC Hawk kits. Okay, I don't want to start a fight, in fact, I really like Tim & Aaron, so I just want to suggest some alternative interpretations of the scale of the Hawk kits that don't match the box & instructions.

First, a bit of a history lesson. Back in the 20th century, Airfix produced an Eagle Transporter kit in a box scale when Space: 1999 was airing. MPC licensed the kit/borrowed the molds and sold the same kit in the US. That kit can still be found on e-bay.

Its claimed it is 1/96, but I've seen many estimates of its scale.

That kit was so successful, that Airfix produced a kit of the hawk.

Its stated scale is 1/72.

I however, had heard rumors of said kit in the 1980s, and only seriously attempted to get a copy of kit in the late 90s. But original injection molded production had ended, apparently permanently. Any of these kits on e-bay are rare collector items. The solution to producing more Hawk "kits", was someone built one of these rare kits, created molds of it, and cast resin copies. I managed to get one of these resin replicas in the 2000s.

Fast forward to the second decade of the 21st century, and MPC has created beautiful molds and produced state of the art model kits of the Mk. IX Hawk. The subject sold so well, they produced it in two different scales.
