To Build or Not To Build......
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, May 3, 2004 8:15 AM
This past weekend I acquired a kit of V.I.N.CENT from The Black Hole. Other than the box being opened, everything is there and still in the package. The decals look great. It was a good deal at $5.
Now the question is....Do I build it?

Faol, I believe that is a question that only you can answer!

Me, I'd build it. I'd love to have a model of V.I.N.C.E.N.T. sitting on a shelf!
Of course, then I'd have to find a Maximillion...and a Cygnus...

I'd build it too only problem is I'd become obsessed with finding the rest of the models or making them.

I've been a collector for years but I never let that stop me from building a kit I want to build. I say if you want that cute rascal on your shelf, go for it! Big Smile [:D]

faol ,
I'm with the others , only you can determine if you want to build it or keep it as a collectable kit , for myself I'd build it , then I'm not a collector , however my wife would say otherwise .

Since you've already opened it, I'd say go ahead and build it. The collector value goes down when the kit is opened. It it's still in original shrink wrap, however, you get maximum collector value!

My friend built one many years ago and it's a great kit. It'll look good on your shelf!

depends on who you talk to. I'm a modeller. I bought it without the wrap anyhow. I'm not going to be able to resist building it anyways, so I'll let you know how it turns out.

Wondering whether or not to build a kit? How can you even wonder such a thing? OF COURSE you should build it Smile [:)]
Then, get the rest!

Build it. When I was younger, I had the Cygnus and Maximillian. I still have bits of the Cygnus and all of Maximillian. I bought a mint, unopened VINCENT on eBay last year for about $20 or $25. I plan on building it. I don't see them being worth a whole lot as collector's items, the movie didn't do too hot.

I personally don't really understand the idea of buying a kit without any intention of building it. I have plans to someday build ALL of the 270+ kits I have storage.

Maybe I'll leave the ones I never finish to the grandkids.Big Smile [:D]

I've gotta agree, build it. I'd like to find an Ertl/AMT Enterprise (No bloody A, B, C, or D) and then get a kit in the same scale as the Enterprise of the plane that they crushed in their tractorbeam.

BUILD IT!!!
I have about 10 kits that are between 25-30 years old that I've acquired either through e-bay or garage sales! Its fun to relive memories with those old kits.
On the other hand, I have to agree with you, I'm not a collector of kits, but my girlfriend tends to disagree!!

Only you can decide.

But if it was me - I'd build it, that's what it's there for, you enjoy it!
