Wondering what are the better kits out there for making the original series phaser, communicator and tricorder? The original "exploration set" just seems too cheesy and I know there are better kits out there.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave here is a phaser kit. http://www.monstersinmotion.com/startrek/phaser1&2kit1.html

I'll try and look around for the other items in kit form. Master Replica makes a phaser & communicator that are unbelieveable. Check them out while you are there. I think they are releasing a tricorder later this year as well.

Woody,

Much much thanks! I watched an episode of old Trek last night and notice that they painted the phaser properly in the advertisement photo. It's a dark grey main body, and black for the handle and upper piece.

Thanks very much!

I've still got the Tricorder from my set as a kid. I built the phaser and communicator to play with and they were long since destroyed. I found the unbuilt Tricorder in a box at my Mom's house several years ago. I thought it looked rather cool for a 30 year old toy.

Your welcome Dave. If you need any pics of Sci-Fi weapon props let me know as I have a lot of good images. I'm also a member of a Yahoo group that is interested in Star Trek props. They have a very nice photo archive.

Dave,
Stay away from the "Exploration Kit". It definitely cheesey, lacked detail, inaccurate (about 2/3 scale). Stick with Woody on this one.

Good hunting (and building)

Thanks everyone for the replies. Woody, thanks for the offer to help. I probably won't be buying until a few months from now, but am getting an idea of what is out there. I can just picture myself now, playing with those things like I did when I was 6. Big Smile [:D] I'm tied up with things now, but might want to join the Yahoo group in the future.

TY,

Dave
