If you ever see studio shots of the effects model, you see it's a more tan colored, like the Cardassian war ships but techniques of lighting the model for filming made it look more dark grey. It's a tough call because the model it delibrately light to look dark and inividual TV recpetions also come into play. Take a look here under 'Federation Ships' to see how other modelers handled it:

I'm currently working one a DS9 Kit myself and I'm not sure what to paint it, either.

OK, Just did a model inventory and decided I need to do the DS9 to placate a kid who likes the DS9 show and wants it hanging in his room. What would be a good color for "medium warm grey" which is supposedly what Rick Sternback called for as to the primary color. I think MM gunship grey would be too dark (but looks great on a D7!) and I'm thinking dark gull grey would be a good match, but I thought I'd toss this one out to the Council of Experts here and see what kind of a kerfluffle it'll cause.
