Have any of you ever tried to recreate the floodlight/spotlight effect on your models? Like illuminating the top of the Enterprise's saucer where the registration numbers are.

I think someone over at Starship Modeler did that, bit I can't remember who. You might ask over at that forum.

Just found it (again) over at SM. The guy did it on his Bandai Enterprise and his problem was that the kit was too small to do it accurately. Shouldn't be a problem on the PL 1/350 kit when it comes out.

Kyu-Woong Lee used model train light bulbs to light his "refit". On culttvman.com he states:

Using model train light bulbs solved the problem of creating this effect in a very compact, elegant way. At the time I built the model, I used Walthers 1.5V clear lights with a built in lens. The lensed bulbs have since gone out of production, but Model Power's "152C" light bulbs are still available, also with an integrated lens. These bulbs are very small, and were mounted in the model at various locations to illuminate the appropriate markings.

Damn good job on that kit!! [:0]
