Anything worth modeling from "Chronicles of Riddick?"
Posted by J-Hulk on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 7:05 AM
Here in Japan, The Chronicles of Riddick opens August 7, but I think ya'll in the West have had it out for a while, no?
I've seen a few ads for the film, and got some quick glimpses of various ships and armor and whatnot.

For those who have seen the film, do you think there are any subjects worth modeling from it?

Also, was there any merchandising associated with the film in your countries?

Oh yeah, and is it any good? My dad (who lives in Georgia) saw it and loved it.

that information might be hard to come by because looking at the box office returns it doesn't seem anyone felt the movie was worht going to see let alone building models from the movie

In case you didnt know there is another movie that came out about 2000 called Pitch Black starring Vin Diesal. I havnt seen Chronicles yet but was told by a friend to see this first as it is also about Riddick but I dont know if its before or after but there wasnt much to model in this one.

Thanks for the replies, fellas.
I enjoyed "Pitch Black," and have been looking forward to "Riddick."

I hope it's not as bad as the box office indicates, Jimmyd!

I saw Chronicles, and thought it was pretty good. If you like Pitch Black, You'll like Chronicles. It takes place many years AFTER Pitch Black. The kid is grown into a beautiful young woman. The preist is in Chronicles, and Good Ole' Vin Diesel is back. There were a lot of great special effects. The potential for some great models is most definately there. Could be some good space craft, monster creatures and who knows what else might be possible. I'd be interested in any models from Chronicles. And I recommend the movie to anyone who thinks the commercials look good. Kasy

Thanks for the info, Kasy!
I just picked up the "Riddick Bible" DVD at the local vid shop, and I have to say this film looks amazing. I love the designs of the ships and the Necromonger armor.
Looking forward to this one!

It opens here this weekend (along with Thunderbirds!)

No sweat Brian. I'm new to this board, and feel so useless not being able to answer peoples questions. Feels pretty good to pass on some info. You are right, there are a lot of models possible from this series (both Pitch Black & Chronicles) and they left the movie open so a "Part 3" could emerge. Who knows what THAT could bring? Well, thanks for asking a question I could answer. Kasy (Ken Campbell = K. C. = Kasy)

Glad I could help you help me, Kasy!

It's out now, so I gotta drag my butt into a theater and check it out.
I have seen zero in the way of merchandising associated with this film...anything out there?

Nothing I've seen nor heard of. However, a lot of things happen I've never heard of. Point in case: I was in a computer animations class and the teacher had a toy version of the runabout ship used in the movie "Battlefield Earth". I had never seen nor heard of such a toy. And it was a cool one at that. Lots of moving parts and all. I would have liked to have one of those. Kasy

The only things I've seen concerning Battlefield Earth were the bad reviews...I kinda liked it, though! It seemed like Travolta and Whitaker were having a good time making it!
