The original AMT Klingon ship is approximately 14-inches while the Polar Light ship is about 9 1/2-inches long. The windows on the PL ship are made of decals so it would be tough to light.

The PL Klingon ship.

The AMT ship with extensive modifications I added to it for the lighting.

It's completely smooth. It does seem to lack greeblies, but everything that I could tell from the series is there. Pretty much like the PL Enterprise--smooth, but accurate.

Thanks Jonas. It looks a good deal smaller than the Ertl version, which frankly is not a bad thing. Since it's a reproduction of the original series ship, its detail is probably more or less nada, right? Meaning that it has some decent superdetailing opportunities. Are windows marked on the kit or is it completely smooth?

I've got a buildup started. One of the pictures has a pen next to it to show scale.

It's not a bad kit, considering the price. It's supposedly a little out of scale (the mold maker screwed up), but since it's sci-fi, I don't care. There are some nasty seams on it, but nothing that a person with a few models under their belt can't handle. Well worth the money in my opinion.

How big is this kit? I read it's 1/1000th scale, but as these are make-believe ships that means little to me. How long is it in inches? Is it bigger or smaller than the venerable old Ertl kit?

Is it a decent kit? I read a review online that left me a bit confused as to whether it's any good or not.
