AMT/Ertl star wars models
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, October 7, 2004 1:53 PM
I was reading a post by caseyn5 that AMT/Ertl has renewed its license to make and sell star wars models and was wondering if anyone knew where to buy them or if they're even selling them.

I hope Fine Molds keeps releasing SW Models.

Can't really see a licence going to two different model makers.

i use to see AMT/Ertl star wars models at toys r us. the one i remember were episode 1 models and were out shortly after that movie came out, so i don't know if they would still carry them. your lhs probly would have them though.

i'm not sure how many starwars models are out there but there should be more!

The older original trilogy kits pop at from time to time at shops close to me, but I am always torn if I should get them for the nostalgic value or skip them due their quality & building headaches.

Busy finishing off a Fine Molds Slave 1 at the moment with a modification Cockpit Window will have a dark tint to make it look more like the original one.
Huge size difference between the Slave 1 in the original and second trilogy.

I hear that Toys'r us will only close shops in the states, but will remain open for business in Asia and other places.

If AMT/ERTL descideds to re-issue I sincerely hope that they will retool the kits, but more likely they will simply pop out more kits from the original molds.

I like the Fine Molds kits for a few reason they are well done, well detailed all in the same scale(too small IMO) and all the kits have to be approved by Lucas himself for detail and authenticity.
