                        Does anybody know if they intend to release 1/48 valkyries or battlepods?

                        Hasegawa rarely makes 1/48 scale sci-Fi so maybe if you and several other people contact Hasegawa and ask them to make 1/48 scale macross items.

                        Mikeym_us Is right till the first Macross kit was released they did mostly planes with a few cars thrown in.

                        I was a bit shocked when they announced that they will enter the SF genre with the Valkyries, so given their little experience in SF kits ...

                        I remember that series, but I don't think it sold as well as it should have.

                        I build a few of the older 1/72 Battlepod Kits, not bad they can still be had at times. The 1/100 version is more common and covers more of the pod types:
                        Scout, Light attillery, Heavy attilery, Soldier, etc.

                        After having build the hasegawa Battroid, I must say while the detail was outstanding i was not too impressed with the overall kit.

                        Bandai did the officers pod, Arii did the Regult and other pod versions.
                        I think IMAI also used to produce a few.

                        Yes, they can be a bit tough to get hold off now, your best bet will be e-bay or a good 2nd-hand kit shop.

                        Most of those kits were originally release 15+yrs ago and the reissues were few.

                        I've seen the 1/72 battlepods on E-bay go from $50.00 to $100.00. I was hopping for a Bandia re-issue back when they re-released the 1/100 scale kits. I thought I heard that Bandai acquired the Imai molds.

                        The 1/72nd Regult was by Imai. Every joint on the legs were moveable. Even the little dueclaw thruster was a ball and socket joint. The Glaug was done my Arii. It had polycaps ans was really heavy with thick part walls.

                        Anything that has a Bandai label is made from molds bought from Imai and Arii.

                        Very little, IMO, IMAI is gone with their molds and licences being sold to Aoshima who seems to be doing NOTHING with them(see "new" Space 1999 & UFO diecast releases)
                        ARII also doesn't seem to place much eomphasis on plastic models anymore.

                        All the japanese toy-makers(Takara, Arii, Aoshima, etc) seem to be pulling out of the plastic model game(exception being Bandai of course and they only seem to care about Gundam and Studio Ghibli stuff)
