Star Trek Drydock Model
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, November 7, 2004 12:18 PM
On ebay there are two different spacedock models being offered by two different sellers. Does anyone know of any garage kits available for these models? I do not want to try and cast all of the dozens of parts for one of these docks myself, and I do not want to pay ebay prices.

Don't know of any drydock garage kits, but some of the other members might.
If there are any out there I would expect them to be priced very high.

Resin I think might not be the best material for such a project.
Depending on which drydock you are after, they had several variants.

I think with some good scale plans, balsawood and some sheet styrene the drydocks could be made fairly easily.

The Motion Picture Enterprise refit drydock may very well be from a kit. Go to the Reader Gallery on this site and check out the March 2004 photos. The same guy who is offering the dock on ebay submitted an identical drydock photo there. Hope this helps.

Okay my bag. I checked the ebay photos again with the Reader Gallery version and there's a difference in the superstructure. It's the same guy, but slightly different designs. I STILL think there's some kind of kit involved, but that's just my personal suspicion, and my track record as a keen observer is about as good as an election exit poll!

My thanks to Model Museum and Bob-art for looking into this drydock question.

I been to several Sci-Fi model building forums and all seem to have the same answers. It appears I am going to have to do my research and rise up to a whole new level of patience to create one of these things myself. If and when I get it done, I will post some pics here.
