Anyone in our little Sci-Fi community planning on attending Wonderfest 2005?

Would love to go one day but just too far to travel.
Limited to one good trip a year. This year was IPMS Nats.
Next year is Disney.

Planning on it. Our local SciFi modeling group is planning a road trip. Attended last year with and had a great time. Well worth the effort.

You can bet money on my being there in '05. I got to go last May and I vowed after that to never miss another.

Same here! I almost didn't go this year, but am glad I did. I had a blast!

I don't plan to ever miss WonderFest again if it's at all in my power. I highly recommend it to all who've never been before.

Unless the unforseen pops up, I'll be there myself. It's about a three hour drive from home so I don't know why I've never been. I hope to rectify that this year.Wink [;)]

And where might home be? Just curious to know. I'm currently deployed - and thank God that the COMM Nazi's haven't cut off this site! - but am currently stationed in Arkansas. It's a good 6 to 8 hour drive, depending on how I hit traffic in the various large cities I have to drive thru (Memphis, Nashville and Louisville, itself, for the most part). It's a nice little drive, not too much traffic 'cept in the large cities and I do my best to avoid the Heck out of it whenever possible!

Sadly, no one in my immediate area travels to WF, so I have to drive it alone. Would be kinda kewel to have someone to swap out driving with. But then, I'd have to compromise on both music and the volume it's played! I kinda like cruising along w/some Alternative cranked up to 11. Evil [}:)]

I'll be there for the fourth time in a row! Maybe I'll come out of my shell a little bit. Ask Griffworks, I tend to be a little shy...

I live smack dap in that little piece of land in the southeast corner of MO we call the Bootheel. I can be in Kentucky in about 20 min or Arkansas in 10 min. The last model club I was a member of was in Blythville where are you? Looking at the mileage map it looks like it will be closer to 4+ hour drive for me but then again I have a bit of a lead foot. You would more than likely go insane if you rode with me because my family wants to go! LOL

And we wouldn't have it any other way, Jimi. Big Smile [:D]

Thankfully, you've got good taste in shirts, too. Always fun when you got lots of folks wearin' Hawaiian Print shirts. It is the tradition of Ugly Shirt Friday, after all. Wink [;)]

Prolly about 2 1/2 hours from Blythville. The base is in Jacksonville.

LOL

Sadly, mine can't. We were thinking about driving up on Wednesday, going to Six Flags Thursday during the day and visiting w/my friend Larry Wherthey in the evening. I'd then drive Wife and The Kids up to Cincinnati to visit w/some friends 'til Monday. I'd come up in the morning, spend the day/night and then drive back on Tuesday. However, Wife is a teacher and can't get away from school for either of those weeks. Sad [:(]

Oh, well. Just means I can be my usual, crazy self and not have to worry about making a - God forbid - emergency trip up to Ohio with a hang over. Blush [:I]

I'm planning on it. It's a five hour drive for me, but I can think on no better way to spend a morning. The day off, money in my pocket, Bob and Tom on the radio...going to Wonderfest: priceless. This btw will be my 11th in a row.

Oh, yep, I'm going! Been to four WFs since I first found out about it in '00, with the exception of this year (bad timing). WF '05 falls on the holiday weekend & I can definantly be there, as I also use that time to visit family in nearby Indiana.

It's a killer time if you havn't been there! You practically O.D. on all the resin!

Don't forget - Friday afternoon starting at about 3:30pm 'til whenever the Lizard Lounge event starts Friday evening (7pm?) is Ugly Shirt Friday in the hotel lounge (right next to the Lizard Lounge). Look for the folks wearing Hawaiian print shirts to get an early start on the festivities. We might even buy you a drink.... Wink [;)]

I will be attending Wonderfest... Looking forward to meeting some of you there!

Hopefully will have my Slave-1 finished and perhaps one or two of my Macross kits done. I'm working on a resin Cat's Eye seen here:

Wonderfest is a true Mecca for modelers. I can't imagine a year going by without my having been there for the weekend. Ugly shirt Friday? Oh, I think I can dress for that!

Are any of you taking models? If so what are you taking?

I might. I've got several on the backburner that are nearly read, just needing some paint and/or decals. Got a whole lot that are in need of a base coat, but otherwise completed. LOTS of possibilities that I could take.

'Course, I've been saying that I'd finish a model for a couple years now. Still ain't happened.... Confused [%-)]

Jeffery I just had a look through your site. Wow you have all kinds of projects! Looks like you are a fan of the "Starfleet Battles" game. I played SFB for many years and really love the ship designs from the game. You'll have to give me a heads up when you get those Gorn cruisers done. Cool [8D]

D'Oh! Somehow, I missed this posting. Sorry, Woody!

I'm not as big an SFB fan as I am FASA. However, I love the Gorn ship designs for SFB, as well as several of those for the Romulans. I've now completed three Gorn DD's (well, one has the "wings" from a Light Cruiser (CL), so I guess that sorta makes it a DH?), one CL and one CH. Rob "Robburrito" Butler, the guy who makes those Gorn ships, also makes an awesome Chandley from the FASA game, as well as just recently finished molding a new Klingon that looks a LOT like it would be from SFB.

I'm still undecided. I don't want to commit to something, either, given how little actually FINISHING of models I seem to do. Sad [:(]

Kewel! Betcha it'll take at least a Silver, if not Gold, whatever it might be!

At least one rounds worth, yeah. Prolly two. At least, if the crowd's not too large.

Sweet! And glad too see you're back home again. My nephew has been informed he'll have at least 1 more tour overseas before he's done. So how was (deleted)?

Sorry to hear that about your nephew. What branch of Service is he in?

It wasn't too bad. The weather was alright - I like it cold, so this was a very nice change from the usual extra hot places I deploy to. Locals that I talked to were great to deal with, tho we didn't get to go off-base. Wouldn't mind going back again sometime.
