Drop Ship and Ground Assult Group Build Planning
Posted by maxx1969 on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 4:17 PM
Looks like a plan guys. Open to kits, kitbash, or scratch build from Movies, books, or your own design. Does a start date of Dec.1st and end date of June15th sound good to you?

Heres who we have so far:

Model Museum
StevenQ
Balta1
Mikeym_us
Madmike
Stipp
Maxx1969

Once everyone is signed up I'll make a new main list of people and projects. Also start thinking of some good GB badge ideas.

I guess I got 2 vehicles that would fit that category(1/35 Dominion Tank)

How would you feel about things like an Armored Trooper aka Votoms, or an SF3D Jerry, or a Koubu from Sakura Wars(I like the F Variant)??

I don't think that would be a problem at all. I had plans at one time to build a 1:35th scale ground-water assult vehicle based on a Zoids toy.

Great! Big Smile [:D]

I got a few of the Wave 1/20 Zoids. Nice little kits with plenty of customisation options, seen a Golem done up with 1/20 SF3D Cannons and such.

How 'bout includine the household junk build too. I have something for that, maybe even the ground vehicle build. Of course it would be nice if I finished what I was working on for the ST build.

You know I seem to remember a story in I think FSM where someone built a cool looking hover tank out of the cover froma telephone base. I'll have to see if I can find that.

I remember that. Quite inspiring. For the ground vehicle I had this in mind:

I think I will go with 2 Kits for this GB:

1/35 Dominion Tank Bonaparte by TVC-15(Resin Kit):

1/24 Koubu-F Lobelia Variant by Wave:

Was considering another TVC-15 kit but that kit has too much flash and needs some resculpting to make it look nice, their quality tends to vary from very poor to great.

Welcome aboard balta1 and nice choice. Wow Model Museum I was looking at the Kobu-F in Hobby Japan just last night. That should make for a great build. I still have to decide what I'm going to build. Kind of leaning toward something I can put in a dio.

They do build-up nicely, typical Wave quality.
The older Kits(Koubu-Kai) had less weapon variants, the best kit there is the "multiplex" one with ALL the weapons & figures in it.

Still looking for the version where the sensors moved in a cross pattern rather then the 2 horizontal rows, I think there was a Soft Vinyl Kit of it put out by Sega.

Sounds good to me.
With that length of time I might add a 3rd kit (1/24 Koubu-Kai, 1/48 Scopedog)if time permits, I am building strictly OOB for this.
Not much to do besides painting on those kits.

Great! I have some projects plus (I hope) two more Star Trek scratch builds for Woodys GB so that amount of time should work out. How bout you Steven? We should be able to get a few more to join in by Dec1 or later with plenty time to build.

Ok, dropship is self explanatory, for the ground assault, are we looking at SciFi grav tanks, battlemechs et all?

I have several Battletech mechs that could be done, plus my son (who is into WH40K) wants me to get the Tau Hammerhead assault vehicle (read: me too!! Tongue [:P] )

Would that be within the bounds of the proposed GB?

cheers

So what exactly is a group build? I know what group is, and I know what build is. Do you guys get together and build models? Send them to each other? Just curious.

Hi john. You build a model like you normaly would but share updates on progress, tips, and pics of your work. The Group part of it is that we all build something from the same movie topic, or subject. Think of the forum as our little living room where we get together and build stuff Check out the Group Build folder in this forum it will give you an idea.
