Painting Gundams...what order?

I'm painting the subassemblies to my 1/144 Astray. I found that since it's a snap together kit with poly cap attachmend for the joints I can build the kit up to see it whole and then dismantle the key components for subassembly painting.

That's a great idea, I hadn't thought of that!

I usually glue my Gundams, just to help the seams out, but because a lo fo the joint are poly-capped it's easy to assemble sub-sections. I usually paint the inner areas on the sprue, then assembled the various parts and paint the outside.

May I suggest to pick up a copy of Hobby Japan(any issue will do) and check how the japanese modelers assemble theirs.

I just do sub assemblies based on what I can work on at the time...

IE: How I'd do the chest of the 1/144 Freedom I have now, I'd do the chest vents before placeing them in their spot and glueing the chest together to rid the seam. I'd have cut off the snaptogether points of the lower torso and put that together seprate, then after that's done, but the body parts together....

Just a small example though
