Super Starfleet tug/transport.

Hey guys I was wondering if I might use you as a sounding board for a original TOS starship design I've been working on. I hope to scratchbuild this to take to Wonderfest. Please forgive the crude image. I have no CG skills. Tongue [:P]

Able to tow six standard Franz style cargo containers(more in a pinch), a very ample series of cargo holds, and two cavernous shuttle bays, the USS Kraken, Goliath class tug is a 600m heavy hauler. Only three were commissioned, the USS Kraken, the USS Goliath, and the USS Leviathan but they add much muscle to Starfleets Strategic Command. Whether arriving at a devastated world with relief supplies and hospital cargo containers, serving as a frontline mobile starbase, or as in the case of the Leviathan resuppyling key Starfleet bases at the farthest edges of Federation space, you'll not soon forget seeing this impressive giant.

Hey Dan, It will be 1/1000. I've had that design and a small TOS era torpedo frigate/corvette thrashing around in my head for a long time now. I'm working on the bow view now.

You do amazing work...Woody... This will be one of several of yours I'll be watching progress on. Do you think you will make casts off any of these? If so, I 'd like to cut in the buying line! Big Smile [:D]

Hey Woody, get those things out of your head. We don't want your brain to get thrashed!!Tongue [:P] Seriously, that's a nice design. Sort of has the flavor of the old SFB carrier, which would go along nicely with it. Of course that means you'll have to build the carrier too!
Nice work.

hmmmmm we have to get Woody to at least get those designs on paper so he could start using his head to start thinking Klingon.

On the workbench: Dragon 1/350 scale Ticonderoga class USS BunkerHill 1/720 scale Italeri USS Harry S. Truman 1/72 scale Encore Yak-6

The 71st Tactical Fighter Squadron the only Squadron to get an Air to Air kill and an Air to Ground kill in the same week with only a F-15 http://photobucket.com/albums/v332/Mikeym_us/

Hey Woody can you do me a favor and jot down this design for me since I dont have your vast drafting skills lets see what a starship would look like if it had a Constitution class hull and Saucer config but add 4 WARP nacels and pylons.

Thanks Dan! Big Smile [:D] Hmmmm.....I hadn't thought about doing the Super Tug/Transport as a resin kit. It almost screams to be a multy-media kit with a vac hull. I'll give it some thought. Man that would be a lot of resin. [:0]

Thanks Steve! Big Smile [:D] The SFB carrier is my favorite carrier design of all. You can bet somewhere down the road I'll be doing one of those. As far as SFB designs, I'll be doing a Light Cruiser next time I tackle a SFB design. The NCL is a nice looking ship too.

I do have some parts gathered together that I hope to combine into a Klingon patrol/police style ship. I also want to build a TOS era Andorian cruiser. So many potential projects so little free time. If I still had some photo software on my clunky PC I'd whip you up a pic but all I have now is Paint which I used to color one of my crude sketches. If I get some free time I'll see what I can do or maybe I'll ask a fellow on one of the CG boards I like frequent to chop something together.

It doesn't look like I'll have my ST group scratchbuild project done for another month. I posted this on the GB thread but I don't think anyone is going there much anymore. I ran out of RTV molding material and I won't be able to get any for a little while. I've got to finish Christmas shopping before I can drop $35 on somemore RTV. I have cast a couple nice nacelles and a secondary hull for my build but still need several more molds crafted, mainly the saucer mold. I'm sorry if I've let you guys down.

Don't feel bad, Woody. I'm dragging on the Ranger too. Haven't had a chance to paint it. Same thing happened with the Carrier. Seems to be a pattern! I thought I had an old Fed CL, I'll look and see. I know I have the plans that came with the mini if you want them.

Thanks for the offer Steve but I have a copy of the Light Cruiser instructions along with a few other images I've managed to collect along the way.
