Hello! I'm a new member of the forum; I joined on Dec. 6, but didn't really have a chance to post until now.

I've been into building kits since I was about 11; my first one, in fact, was a second-release Enterprise (able to be lit, but the nacelle caps weren't transparent). I've been out of serious modelling for a while, but now I've got a few projects lined up. Currently my 'stable' of finished kits mainly consists of a few Klingon D-7s and a K'Tinga. My current project is a AMT D-7 I got from a friend who decided that he'd never start it, so I bought it from him for $5. I've customized the rear of the engines to match the Polar Lights 'grilles', instead of the half-round ones the kit has (I don't think I've ever seen anyone do that before. If anyone has, could you let me know?), and will add a few details to bring it more in line with the 'official' one. I'll post some pics when I get it finished, if that's OK.

Sorry about the ramble, but I had to make up for lost time!Smile [:)]

Yes welcome. There's always room for more here. We need to build our numbers. You might consider joining a group build.

Thanks for the welcome! :)

Sorry I'm replying so late, but the holidays took priority.

I've taken some pics that I'll post when I get them back from being developed (Alas, I'm one of those souls who has yet to make the jump into the 21st Century when it comes to photography!).

By the way, for anyone with an AMT D-7....
As you may have noticed, the Polar Lights kit has the running light on the underside of the bulbous command section, something the filming model has (most notibaly in THE ENTERPRISE INCIDENT), but not the AMT kit.
However, when I was preparing to get the stand ready for building, I noticed a small, half-rounded piece on one side of the flat base. It doesn't have a part number, nor is it listed in the instructions. However, I've found that it's the right size for the running light! Maybe it got lost in the shuffle when the kit was produced...?

Here's the first pic I've scanned--I've laid the pieces on the scanner, as the pics I've gotten back didn't come out. :(

The light grey engine is an old one from a destroyed kit I've had in a closet for quite some time; the light blue, is the current one. The strips are eight pieces of .030 styrene, four upper, four lower, per side. I've kept a gap between the groups, as per the Polar Lights kit (and the pics I've seen). I've even filled the hole in the bottom for the running light, and cut the peg off of it, to relocate it slightly more to the rear.

More to follow, when I get a better camera, I think! :)
