2 New Models on the Stash.
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, December 30, 2004 2:15 AM
Just added 2 new releases to the stash:

1.) Wave 1/20 Gans from Maschinen Krieger

Looks as good as any of the previous kits in the same series.
HLJ should start shipping the Gans from next week onwards once their New Year Holiay is over.
FYI, many kits in japan are released at the end of the month 25th or later.

2.) Wave 1/12 Powered Suit(Design by Studio Nue)

Now this Item was a surpise, first of all the box is big.
Secondly it is not a reissue of the Kaiyodo Action figure that needs to be assembled(pain in the posterior that one was).

It is actually a fully articulated Plastic Model, with plenty of parts and pilots head and shoulders. No seperate pilot figure like with the Action Figure though.
Comes with a 12 page booklet for assembly and painting.

Those kits should not pose too big a problem for modellers used to japanese kits, but the beginner might need help with painting, wiring, etc instructions.

Ok, started on the Gans and the power suit(only major assemblies till I get abck to my current base and got access to the modeling Desk again.

Here are my impressions:

1.) 1/20 Gans.
Very nice kit, you will end up with quiet a few bits for the spares box once you are done.
Few fitting aproblems, but nothing major that a little bit of putty and sandpaper can't fix.

2.) 1/12 Powered Suit(Starship Troopers).
This kit has me blown away so far that I will pick up another 2 kits prior to leaving Japan.
Very well detailed and a TON of parts to make it all work, plenty of small detailing can still be done for those so inclined.
So far no fitting problems, casting has a bit of flash but nothing to really worry about.

Honestly one of the better kits to have come out in quiet some time and also a pleasure to see a company make an action toy into a kit and not the reverse that seems to be the standard now. Angry [:(!]Angry [:(!]

The Powered Suit sounds cool. I'll have to check it out!

Nope, not yet! But I have been eyeballing 'em when I'm in the shops recently.

I think I like the old-school RX-78-era types. To be honest, the newer ones just seem too "busy" (that is, just too much junk stuck on 'em). I do like the Newer Zakus, though.

Model Museum: Is that Wave 1/12 Power Loader you're talking about the same one in this month's Model Graphix? (It's gotta be!)
If so, it is pretty dang cool.
Apparantly there's another one in 1/20, too.

Haven't read Model Graphix in some time, but it sounds like it is.
Here is a link t the kit at HLJ;

Yes, Kaiyodo had a 1/20 action figure of the same Studio Nue design out.
Bandai had an old Vinyl kit of the design based on the 1989 Anime series out:
