Sci-Fi group build idea
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, January 6, 2005 3:43 PM
Many times when you see a miniature, it will be posed next to a quarter (US $.25) to show scale.

i was thinking, it would be cool to do a group build where all finished models were small enough to fit on top of a quarter.

Any subject, any media, and as tall as you want, just has to fit in the diameter of a quarter and be scratchbuilt.

this should be a pretty quick build considering the LOD wont be extreme.

there is no doubt that I am wacked, but I am dead serious.

I haven't ever built something that small before. it would be a challenge.

I was just thinking of doing a 1/1000 TOS shuttle. I think that would fit on a dime. Wink [;)]

I have something in mind. Count me in. If I can paint 1/285th scale Micro Armor, then I think this would be easy. Does anybody remember the issue of FSM with the microscopic SW models? I think the Falcon was about the size of a quarter.

StevenQ, you and Woody are the oly ones who seem to be interested. I am actually shocked that more ppl aren't up to the challenge. I put this idea into te other forums and noone is interested.

For Gods sake, it would'nt cost anyone anything and the build time would just be a few days. Lets see you guys bust out some skill and talent. We could throw the "quarter" scale challenge straight at FSM for an article.

The only guidlines I am suggestin is that it is scratched and a recognizable subject

I am already involved in 2 GB, also need to start 2 entries for Competitions in August.
In addition to that I am also editor of a modeling related Fanzine and need to get a few articles written up for the upcoming issue.

Way too busy to take on another project. Wink [;)]

Plus, getting hold of a quarter where I am is a pain in the butt, remember not all the forum members are american or in the states.

Ok, I think we have enough ppl ready to give it a go.

Lets go with 2 weeks of research and planning and a 1 month build. That should be more than enough time and won't stress anyone out.

email me with your subject and I will post. Take the full 2 weeks to plan if you need to, I have no idea what I will do myself.

I'll work a badge up in that time.
