Here is another thought for the guys that want to build their own suits from scratch r kit-bash something.

Get hold of an 1/10 or 1/12 action figure and pose it, fix the pose and than start getting crazy with putty to form/shape the suit.

I think the best scale for this build would be either 1/20 or 1/12.

Armored Suit:
A suit/exo-skeleton that is "worn" by the pilot and enhances the pilots skill and abilites and optionally also supplies life support and added weaponry.
Suit needs to be naturally humanoid in shape and design, as the pilots limbs directly articulate the suits limbs.

Example of said suits are:
1.) Starship Trooper Powered Armor
2.) SF3D/Maschinen Krieger Fighting Suits(No suits like the HAFS Jerry though)
3.) Battletech Clan Elementals
4.) Mospeada Ride Armor
5.) WH40K Terminator Armor(just as an example)
6.) Wh40K Space Marine Armor.
7.) Southern Cross ATAC Suits
8.) etc

Another variant could be build from the re-issued Aliens Power loader by adding armor and wepaonry to it.

Not really, but I tend to do a lot of writeups for clients about our new products.
Hope I got that right. Question [?]

I see no reason why GW should be excluded unless all that is being proposed is Maschinen Krieger models. GW make Exo suit models so why not?
Besides Im already in the GW GB with something elseBig Smile [:D]
Anyone else get the feeling GW stuff is kinda looked down on?

Well, its off to a start, we just need to finish the guidelines and advertise it and hope we get a few more bites for this build.

Any dates set as yet??

I think with this one we will need tight guidelines as to what is considered a fighting/powered suit.

If I had the time I would order a 1/6 blank figure and scratchbuild some armor on top of it based on a few Anime I know.

There are a few contenders in the 40 K range as well. Noteably the anime inspired tau crisis suits are quite nice , at a push there are the Terminator Armoured marines and at an extreme push Dreadnoughts ( the pilots are near dead remains in a sarcophagus , so that might be pushing it a bit far) not forgeting the Orks have powered exo suits too.
Personally Id like to do a Dreadnought if they were allowed cos they are cool and I need one in my new army Big Smile [:D]

For me the definition of a powered suit is as follows:

"A suit worn by the pilot that enhances his fighting/survival capabilities, normall not taller than 4 metres. "
Which will would even exclude Votoms as the pilots sits in a cockpit and does not wear the suit itself.

Crusher Joe, Southern Cross, Mospeada, etc have suits that fit the bill and were also released as plastic models. Of course SF3D fits also, but I would exclude things like the HAFS Jerry and similar.
Huge human piloted robots like Patlabor, Dunbine, Mobile suits, etc IMO don't fit the bill.

Most of the powered armour kits I have seen seem to be either 1/20, 1/12 or 1/6 scale, whereas the Robots seem to on average 12 metres and taller and thus modeled in 1/72, 1/100 or 1/44..

But lets hear what the other guys have to say on the topic.

Ok, I really dont know what catagory to put gundam in? But you do know what im talking about? right? Armored fighting suits be it heavy, super, exo, regular etc...
Maybe you can redo the post, and write it up specifically for what were talking about, because i dont know all of the types of suits and mechs out there, just Maschinen Krieger and im itching to do another and this gives me an excuse to build some of my hard to find kits. Maybe a pka or heinrich or a safs. Ive even got a scratch build waiting of a little known skinhead2, made from a safs and a gustav! lemme know what you think, Later, Jerry

Yay, I can do one of my new Wave Powered Armor Suits. Easy colouring scheme = 1 colour.

BTW, don't think Gundam falls into the powered armor category. Wink [;)]
You might need to look more along the lines of Jin-Roh, Atac suits, Mosepada suits, etc.
