Lighting the polarlights NCC-1701 nacelles for under $10.00

I found these bicycle valve stems that light using 3 red, white and blue micro leds in rotation circuit. These things are called tireflys and you can buy a pair at Wal-mart in the bike dept.,only the red, white and blue actually rotate as they also make different colors. The modeling possibilities are endless.First you must bypass the spring as centrifig.force of tire rotation completes the circuit.I air-brushed a very light coat of trans.red on the inner clear part and sanded the interior of the outer nacelle cap with 0000steel wool for light diffusion.the results will blow you away.each tirefly is encased in a plastic capsule which is threaded,it is powered by 2 1.5v watch batt.(included with 2 spare batt.)disassembly is a snap.I also have used this with fiber optics for several sci-fi projects.I also use the other color tireflys as simple strobe units just replace led with white or blue from Radio-Shack.I'm sure you can find led's cheaper on-line.hope this imformation is usefull!
