Do you feel a chill in the air???

Hell has officially frozen over!

I started a model and finished it in less than THIRTY DAYS!
A scratchbuild no less! Began on the Sunday before Christmas and finished this morning, 19 Dec to 12 Jan.! Shock [:O]

I am not noted for my speed. Zzz [zzz]
But this time I just thought I would give it a try, to plan and finish a model as quickly as I could.

To start and finish in a month? Don't be ridiculous!

To the model...

Here is the page that inspired me, http://www.bowdoin.edu/~dbensen/Spec/Baleen-squid.htm ,
and the specific image, http://www.bowdoin.edu/~dbensen/Spec/SDsquid.jpg .

Here are some quick and dirty photos. I hope to do better.

Loved the stippling technique you used for the body, Leelan. :D

Awesome, may I ask, what is the medium?

The center is a core of Corning insulation foam. Once that was sanded just smaller than the hoped-for model, I covered it with an air-drying clay called "Makin's Clay" that I found at my local Michael's.

The fins, lips etc were made from Magic Sculp.
(Makin's Clay does not take detail as well as MS. And it stays fairly soft for days.)

The squid is held aloft by coathanger wire running through the left forward fin.
The other fins have wire reinforcing them as well.

The rocks are either MC or MS supplemented with aquarium gravel.

It was a fun build! Big Smile [:D]
