Where's The Matrix models?

Yes, there are reasons why fewer and fewer models are released from movies.
Corporate greed and the worry about pirate copies, etc.

Coprorations ask a lot of money from anybody that wants to use their designs & images, making it nearly impossible for a model maker to afford making one of those kits.
The few that have that much spare cash tend to be more along the lines of action toy and similar makers.

Seen it at some shows where the lawyers for studios like Warner, DC Comics, etc walk around and hand out C&D orders to dealers of garage kits that sculpted and cast kits based on a movie.

You do make a good case, but Lucas Arts, (can I say that without getting charged $$$), seems to do it pertty good. While in Gamestop I was looking at all the movie action figures, thinking MAN if only they made a model of that...I would buy it, and build it. I would rather pay $25 for something I could build and paint, than for something made by someone else. O'well thats just me thinking out-loud.

I agree with you.

There are plenty of toys and action figs I would love to see in kit form, but I guess a few hundred or thousands kits bring less royalties than then thousand upon thousand of action toys.

A few friends of mine switched from kit sculpting to action toy sculpting as it pays more.

You can thank Lucas. It's not something he set out to do though. After the first trilogy's toys were so successful (no one thought they would be because it had never really been done be before on that level), it set a precedent. Other studios saw green and have wanted a piece of that ever since.

Sadly, many sci-fi/action movies are made only to be 2-hr toy commercials. Even worse, that's been the studios language, not mine. The studios are more concerned with merchandising rights for toys, happy meals, clothes, etc. than with making a good movie. ie - Batman and Robin and the multiple failed attempts to create a new Superman movie over the past 8 years.

Have to agree with Trigger74.

Movies and programs are now made with the income coming from merchandise rather than from tickets and similar.
I got to feel it the first time I saw He-Man and each episode was nothing more than a 25 min. commercial for the toys.

Not sure how much Lucas is to blame or if it was more a sign of the times.
