Star Trek Question
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, January 21, 2005 6:18 PM
In one episode of TNG a ship is used to experiment wit warp drive using a wave rather than warp engines. I would like pics of this ship but cannot find any. It is a possible scratch building/ modifing project so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you sure it was TNG? Sounds like the Dauntless.

Possitive it was TNG. I just saw the episode on Spike TV. Where can I find specs on that ship?

The Soliton waverider. Go to the bottom of this page: http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/schematics/starfleet_probes.htm The model was a reuse of the Mars Defense Perimeter ship model from "Best of Both Worlds" (a bit higher on the same page) made from a Soviet Typhoon and two Los Angeles attack subs.

What I find amazing is that, in this time of CGI, they did it the oldfashioned way of kitbashing Big Smile [:D]
They even left the prop shafts of the typhoon where they were.

That reminds of the those cylon ships from Battlestar Galactica, where you could see the upper hull of a Tiger tank and two half engines of a Porshe (or was it Ferrari ?)

Thats the one I guess kitbashing saved a ton of money and apparently TNG was an expensive show to produce! Thanks for all te help.

A Mars defense ship might make an interesting build. I've always been interested in system defense and police craft.

Common practice in Sci-Fi kits. Check the SF3D range of kits and some of the Star War Models (Slave 1, etc). Big Smile [:D]
You can find MANY parts from other models on them.

It gets even worse in movies when they use a bowling ball lit from the inside and covered in crease to use as a meteor crashing into a ship(Black Hole).
