Need some info on a kit
Posted by rjkplasticmod on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 10:16 AM
A freind recently gave me a few kits that he had purchased over the years, but never opened or built. Among them was a kit that I am totally unfamiliar with, a KROTE Panzer Aufkalarungs T.W-47. It appears to be a Mech Warrior type of model, apparently some fantasy futuristic German Armor. Box says it's 1/20 scale from a company called MA. K. or Nuitto, not sure as the box label is a little confusing. The copyright on the box is dated 1997. The kit box is mint, still in the original shrink wrap. I asked about it at the LHS, but the owner drew a blank. He thought Bandai had released such a kit, but this is definitely not a Bandai box. I'm tempted to open it & take a look, but thought I'd check here first. Is this one I should build, sell on eBay or pitch ?

The kit you are describing is a pretty rare Sci-Fi kit. I think they are supposed to be kind of an alternate future armor ideas. I don't know a whole lot about the series, but I think the kits were originally made by MA.K and then reissued or distributed by Nitto.(something like this) Anyway, a lot of sci-fi builders look for these kits and they usually go for a good price.(or you could always just send it to me and I'll take care of it ha ha!) They have a reputation of being good quality kits but I haven't personally built one. You should have no problem finding a buyer for it.

Thanks for the welcome! I've been prowling for a little while and finally thought I would contribute.
I'm sure there are some people out there who know a lot more about these kits though.
So, are you gonna build it or sell it?

Those kits were orriginally released some 25yrs plus, but still are among the best out there. They include metal-parts, etc.

Enjoy it it is a great kit. Search the forum for SF3D or Maschienenkrieger many posts and pics regarding those kits. I love them and am busy on a Gans.

Nitto is a small kit manufacturer in Japan that came out of retirement to re-issue those kit, they ahd a BIG fight with Hobby Japan(Bandai) over some issues and the kits were suspended for 20+yrs.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll just keep it on the shelf, for now anyway.

These 2 sites should help.
I've been doing Ma.K kits for years now and have just posted my latest in this forum as my first post. I have 2 Krotes, so I wont put in an offer, but if you do sell I would think around $30-40. You can still buy them from HLJ when they have stock.
Personally I would build it, I'm finding that all the tips I've learned from the military guys works a treat on these kits.
