"Enterprise" cancelled

I for one am sorry it's cancelled-just as it was starting to find its way. The problem with the Star Trek "universe" is that they were getting more and more locked in to doing things a certain way ("you can't do that-it's against the prime directive!"). Anyhow, no matter what they did, it wouldn't quite match up to the original-that sense of wonder and zaniness. Of course, that couldn't happen, since those days are gone and we're different (witness the Avengers movie). Star Trek fans are a funny bunch. Some never liked Janeway, some thought the original show was too cornball, etc. I'm not sure some folk are over the fact that there's no more Kirk. No way to please everyone. At least it was a whole lot better than "reality TV-" an oxymoron if I ever heard one.

I just hope Sci-Fi channel picks up the show because Paramount has ruined the Star Trek franchise

Like a lot of people, I thought that ST: Enterprise had a lot of potential but that Brannon and Braga ruined it. Like ST:TNG, it was awful at first but getting better as it went on. They should have made the ship simpler, the Romulans and Klingons shouldn't be so advanced, they should have sheilds but not transporters, yada yada yada. Why is it that when Hollywood types try to 'make things better' they invariably make them worse? it must me some kind of mental disability caused by to many art and humanties classes. maybe next time they'll ask the fans what they want. I doubt it..........of course, it could all be a clever ruse to boost ratings so that Trek fans come under the illusion of believing that they 'saved' the show.......hmmmmm.

It was a tie-in to the Dr Soongh 'Uberkinder' story-arc. Apparently the Klingons found the 'augmented' humans, decided it would give Earth an unfair advantage, and used the DNA to make their own Augments. Problem is, it mutated a normal flu-like disease and caused the ridge-loss.

"Our people will be cursed with these deformaties for generations!" one of the Klingon doctors said.

I have to say that last season stunk. Too much "Alternity". I fear that the Trek-verse has a BIG emergency button marked "In Case of Lack of Ideas: Time Travel". If ST:E had been cancelled at the end of LAST season, I wouldn't have complained.

One thing bothered me from the start: cabability inflation. This was supposed to be a PREQUIL. The first time they used the transporter, it was "dangerous", now it's less dangerous than it was in "classic" ST. (A shame. B&B could have addressed why the transport wasn't used as a weapon, viz., why not use it to deliver photon torpedoes if not inside your opponent's shields (which humans don't have), then to just outside his/her shields but from a different angle?) I liked the clunky "obsolete" ideas like the Grabber.

All that said, I was point out that THIS season's fare has been pretty good, er, not bad, er, adequate -- humm, maybe "showed promise"?

There's a write-in campaign, and I wrote-in, but more from nostalgia (I was part of the FIRST one for classic ST, back in college) than anything else.

Hey i missed the "Klingon ridge" thing. what happened?
Will the Mirror Defiant be a Constitution class like the TOS one?

(Oh and I say again i like Battle Star... lol)

i must say that i will miss T'POL,the best /sexiest thing since 7 of 9.i hated the last series about the Xindii...CRAP.the last series is just about to start here in the uk and i'll bet any money that they pull out all the stops and produce some cracking shows. i muat disagree however with AusLexusJapan cos i like Battlestar Gallactica ,i find some of its ideas very intregueing

I didn't enjoy the show very much, but I liked the concept and the timeline. I feel it would of been better with a massive clunkier ship like the one from "Wing Commander." I would of like to seen the Ship with a battle group (like a Navy Aircraft Carrier with a group of support ships). The universe is a huge unfriendly place, and the cancelled show "Fire Fly" did a good (although strange) way of showing it. Gene Roddenbery's Wagon Train to the stars should of shown the Enterprise exploring new trade routes, charting nearby systems, establishing new colonies, and making treaties with close by species. Different actors would of helped too, with an exciting Captain.
Oh well. If there is another series I hope it will stay true to Star Trek. I hope the studio executives learned their lesson. The next show, I hear, might be Star Fleet Academy, or (I hope) the begining of the Federation.

Where did my post go???

I guess i am also in the minority when i say that I actually like the show even though there is a list of things I don't like about it. Honestly how I settle the conflict in my minds is very simple. Enterprise takes place in an alternate realty. It isn't a hard to to accept considering all the continuity issues it has to. So i just accept it for what it is and keep it separate from regular trek continuity. It just won't fit no matter how hard you try so why bother. It was different and 'fresh" as some one said earlier. i like it because in this show the "good guys" don't always win and they don't always have to 'play fair'. I feel the characters are more beleivable than in the other ST series. Though i did like the characters on DS9. I like complex characters. that is why i like BSG even though i my dislikes on that show too...
[however i will admit that in my area to get UPN you have to have satelite, which I don't. It comes on at random intervals on CBS in my city. Like 2 am on fridays and around noon on saturady if there isn't a sports game on.]

What happned to the exploring part of star trek enterprise, It's all dramatic and they say big bold words " Get off my ship " stuff like that. And with the story that last the whole season ... boring . I like it better when each episode is different. And why does the ship look so dark. And a tip for the makers of the show dont zoom into their faces so much.

Every Star Trek series has lasted longer than the original, but that dont mean they are better.

It was put on UPN because they owned it, hope Sci-Fi Channel picks it up. They know how to do sci-fi.
It is interesting to note that Enterprise lasted longer than the original Star Trek series.

Enterprise was a pretty good show, but my local cable company never seemed to put it on the same time every week so I missed alot of it.

well you got to remember TOS was cancelled once then went for 2 more seasons.

I hear that the Scifi channel might take up the reins on Enterprise! (rumor)
If they do, it just might turn out better because they might use new writers?

While not a huge fan of Enterprise, it was interesting (first season anyway) to see how stuff began. Kinda like TNG movie where they go back and help make sure Cochoran's (-sp) first warp drive flight takes off.

Plus, Archer had a Beagle! Beagles rule!

I kinda liked the last half of the Zendi season. Sad to see it go. Liked some of the characters. LOVED the ship.

the "early years" Last season kinda sucked but they were making up for it with starting of the Federation. Why they ever put it on UPN i have never understood but at least it was on.One thing I did like was that they always showed each episode on sunday so
I got to see it( I work rotating 12hrs shifts) I wish SF did that w/BG.

AFVg2.. Its not real.. Its just a tv show..

I have a full life with work and raising a child.. So I never got the chance to be an expert on all things Trek.. Who cares if it was a little out.. Its not like its a true story or anything...Now I really love Trek. Have enjoyed all forms of it on TV and movies.. I simply couldnt give a rusty rats wrinkle if something doesnt match.. For it is the bigger picture I am looking at, and well, I damned well enjoyed it!

Hear that hum when you look through a telescope at night? That's not Gene Roddenberry turning over in his grave but him rotating on a spit: This show wouldn't have been allowed by him. shouldn't have been allowed by Paramount, should've been boycotted by his fans.

It's not a very good history of the early Federation. Instead of one ship, there should've been many ships, many personalities, before the Kirk area.

Sad to hear that Enterprise has been kicked into touch , good format, Pity that they don't give things to mature, it would have been a good show ref hatewall comment you should watch Big Brother on UK Channel Four now that is ****** .

we dont get much Sci-Fi on UK TV not PC at the moment. I would have liked to see how starfleet had become from it beginings to ST:Voyager we will never know
