Oh no...

If anyone's seen my haul from Hobby Lobby's sale this week, you'll know why I'm saying this. See below if you haven't:

Turns out that while I bid on a Millenium Falcon on eBay with a max bid of $15 (I know what you're thinking: "He ain't gonna win a MF with a bid of $15!") I wasn't expecting to win. Mind you, I fully expect to pay for what I bid on, but I honestly thought someone was going to snipe me for it. Here's a link to the kit:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5955898544&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT

Yes, a bit of box damage, but I HIGHLY doubt it did anything to the kit inside. We all know how much extra space RC2 leaves in its boxes. I cannot believe I won it for $13.50. Yes, it's the new release. But $13.50? And here's the kicker: I don't have to pay shipping because the guy is 18 minutes from me! As a favor to him, I'm paying in cash and picking up a few photoetch sets while I'm there to grab the MF.

Best part? My wife isn't mad at all, she's happy I've gotten so many great deals. As a favor to her, I'm not buying ANYTHING else until I build every last kit I currently own. She deserves a night out on the town for her tolerance of my recent spending to get back into the hobby (habit?) LOL.

LOL, yes, truely w00t for me, huh? I picked up the kit around midday yesterday and I'm marveling over the size of the thing. It's honestly the biggest model I've got in my stash to build. I'm planning on reducing the height of each side panel to make the shape a bit more correct. If I screw up, I'll simply wait for falconkits.com to make more resin accurized side panels.

For this kit I plan on:

- Accurizing the cockpit
- fixing the sidepanels
- lighting the engine
- adding lights to the two front pylons, as seen when the Falcon enters the "cave" in Empire Strikes Back, or flying in the second Death Star

This kit will take me quite a while to build. I'm planning on working on it when I have downtime waiting on other builds. I want this thing to look badass when it's done.

Jon, I I love the kit, I`ve got 3 of them including the cutaway, that ive been working off and on for years, The company Millenium models inc. sells some photoetch stuff, check them out.
The best way to find them is on the federation models site I think?

Wow!
Don't think I've ever been that lucky on Ebay, certainly not with an item as expensive/desirable as that.
Mind you, I just (today) won a Trade Federation tank kit for £1.21 (plus £3.50 P&P), I think this was because
it was in the "Star Wars toys" rather than the "sci-fi kits" section. I plan on converting it to a Warhammer
40K Tau super-heavy tank of my own designs (apologies to any Star Wars fans out there! :) )

If I ever see a cheap Milennium Falcon (the huge toy one from the 80s) at a car boot sale I plan on buying it,
superdetailing and painting it :) - I'm not a huge Star Wars fan but I am an absolute sucker for ridiculously
big and detailed models.

Looking forward to seeing your MF once you start work on it!

Drawde, don't worry about offending any SW fans out there, just be creative and have fun doing it... oh yeah and SHARE your work with us! Wink [;)]

I promise I'll share updates with the fine folks of this forum once I commence working on the kit. I plan on working on it while waiting on my other planned builds to set up, dry, cure, etc.
