Help for a HALCYON ALIENS APC!!!!!!!
Posted by awan on Saturday, February 26, 2005 9:45 PM
Hey everyone!!!!!

I recently read an article on Starship Modeler.com, showing this ALIENS (movie) APC, it's 1/35 HALCYON kit. I want to scratchbuild an interior, can u guys help?????????

I need some parts for the project, maybe you can help me find these parts.

From a 1/35 M113 APC, I need...

somtething called ........."foward/ flotation" armor (2X) (two scoop-like-shaped thingys)
floor plates of troop compatment (4X)
troop benches (4X)
tracks (vinyl, or individual link) (1X)

From a 1/35 Little Bird (DML), I need...

rocket pods (2X)

From a 1/35 Hummer, I need...

deck plates (2X)
seats (2X)

Others....

Various ammo and weapons sets (modern), any spare add-on sets to modern tank interior/exteriors (anything u might find in an LAV or M113 troop compartment)

I'm looking for spares, not looking to tear up someone's kits. Whatever you can offer, please let me know, and let me know what it'll cost me :)

Thanx AGAIN!!! Big Smile [:D]

And don't forget, you'll need a Spatial Distortion Capacitor, similar to that used on the Jupiter II, to cram all that huge hollywood set interior into the dimensions of the "actual" vehicle! Wink [;)]

Seriously though, sounds like an interesting project.

Is this the same device they used on the C-123 Transport in 'Con Air'?

The very same!
It's an extremely popular device in Hollywood!

I saw the APC in London at the launch of aliens, back in the 80's--- about 20 years ago !!
One of the guys from the studio told me that it was a heavily modified aircraft tug with enough space inside for a couple of people to do a ' running inside the APC ' shot.
It looked cool, though, and I did love the film !

I love that thing!! Made it quite a few times fom Lego when I was a kid and had first seen the movie. It's a bit big for my taste, but I love to see what's it going to look like.
I have the Cheyenne dropship from Aliens myself, but haven't started on it yet. I think there is an APC kit in 1:72nd scale available, but I have no idea where to get that....
I can scan in some images from the "Colonial Marines Technical Manual" it has a few three view drawing of the vehicle, as well as some shots of it's interior. And another type of APC, but with a VLS missile system instead of the forward gunpod, and a quad gatling unit in place of the Movie versions Particle Beam turret. There's also a Laser turret shown in the book, so if you would like to make a very different vehicle, just let me know.

BTW. oggie4624 is right, it was based on an aircraft tug, and the exterior design was done by Syd Mead.
