New to Sci-Fi
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, March 27, 2005 10:03 AM
Hello, I have just gotten in to Sci-Fi modeling after geting bored with the same old tanks and planes. Before I have just built one Sci-Fi kit HG Rising Gundam and found that I liked it alot. So. I tired a few others ordering from Greatmodels and they never got them in stock so I just forgot about them. So this mouth I went to a hobby shop planing on geting a tank or plane some how I went over to there Sci-Fi part of the place not very big 2 shelfs and found some of the Gundams I wanted the 1/444 Strike, Mobile Bucue, Mobile Goohn and the Chaos Gundam. Of course I got all for of them. And I have started back work on my Rising Gundam I found that I like working on it better then a tank or plane. Also just ordered the Gundam Deathscyth now. And I am a very big Gundam Seed fan. Sorry being so long just happy.

I'm a sci fi modeler as well except I have abandoned all distracting subjects such as Star Wars and Gundam and vowed to never stray from the one true path in sci fi modeling. There is only one subject any of us sci fi modelers should ever consider, and that is: Planet of the Apes. Just kidding. I'm working on a Macross VF-1J right now. Speaking of Deathscythe, my nephew gave me one of those for Christmas. I got it finished up pretty quick. Here's a picture: http://bellsouthpwp.net/j/d/jdvdb/deathscythe_left02c2.jpg

Thanks for the welcome! Great looking Deathscyth jdavidb! I think I like Sci-Fi a little bit to much cause my first order from HLJ is growing like mad with the Gundams I want the Duel, Aegis,Ginn,Dinn,Strike Dagger, Zaku warrior and the Calamity. They are the cheap kits but I love all the painting you can do them. Thanks for the welcome again!

thanks. That's the no-grade 1/144 Deathscythe. Most of my other stuff is Star Wars or Macross.

You've got a ton of Gundam coming. All the Seed mechs are available from US sellers, so you don't have to buy so much from HLJ.

As far as my Gundam future goes, I have picked out my all time favorites after a bunch of shopping: Hardygun, Zeta Plus C1, and Vigna Zirah. I am gonna build those if I ever get finished with the VF-1J and this other car I'm workin' on.

I love those Seed mechs too. My 9 year old nephew (who gave me the Deathscythe) built Calamity right here using all my tools. He did an awesome job. He did the yellow parts all in brass. I should take a pic of it.

Welcome to Sci Fi modelling...
I know how you feel, I just recently got back into building kits after winning an X Wing kit off ebay, before that I think it's been about 2 years since I've touched a model, SF or otherwise...

Now the Wife and I are looking to buy a house to put my future kits Big Smile [:D] Rented apt. with 7 ft. ceiling + hyperactive cat = lotsa glue and squadron green...
