Star Wars Blasters
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 9:01 AM
Does anybody know where I might be able to find the plastic blasters that were out a few years ago?I'd like to paint one to make it look real.I figure I could spray it flat black the do some metallic dry-brushing for starters.

Thanks

These show up from time-to-time under different names other than Star Wars. Keep checking stores and flea markets.

I did one for a friend a few years back. Found a bit of steel rod the perfect shape, and so cut off the little orange plastic tip with the LED light inside it. Also opened up the cooling holes and with the steel rod inserted, it looked VERY realistic. I used a combination of seven different metalizer finishes and a flat black for the grips. I thought it came out looking better than the movie props as far as sheer visual interest and weathering etc. He sold it already, or I'd post a photo. Just some ideas!

You could try ebay; I search it a lot and there are more than a few blasters, both han solo type and stormtrooper...

For the new movie comming out they might have some in stores. Now when ever i go to store looking for starwars action figures they are sold out i guess the classic figure collection was very popular. You can also try those doller stores they usally have sci-fi water guns with some fancy covering up can look pretty cool. I will try to post pic of one i did that way.
