X-Wing progress

(Apologies for all the posts BTW - I tend to photograph all my recent models + current projects all in one
go, rather than individually)

This is my next Star Wars "toy rebuild" project after the Droid Fighter. It obviously requires
a lot more detailing + part replacement, as it has no cockpit interior to speak of, and crude
external details. However the project seems to be progressing well and will hopefully look very impressive when finished,
even if it's not accurate in every dimension.
So far I've completed the cockpit interior - based mostly on the diagrams in the DK "Star Wars: Incredible Cross-Sections"
book. Next will be the external detail including replacement guns (see below) and a lot of extra details on the R2 unit!
Unfortunately I can't get the S-foil mechanism to work reliably, so I am probably going to glue the wings fixed in their unfolded position.

Unpainted cockpit

Painted lower + upper halves

Complete cockpit (hard to see the interior and seat, unfortunately)

Scratchbuilt replacement laser cannons (needs fine detail adding)

Scratchbuilt replacement canopy (unfinished)
