Tower Hobbies just cancelled carrying the Refit Enterprise...
Posted by theoracle7 on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 6:23 PM
Hey,
I just checked in with Tower Hobbies and they are saying the manufacturer just cancelled the distribution. Too many mixed signals here on this one - can anyone from MC2 actually clarify this mess?

If that's the case and this turns out to be true then the management of RC2 are complete idiots. Why go to all that trouble to make the kits, get them in the warehouse and decide not to ship them? Even if they don't sell as well as every thinks they might, they would still sell some of them and get some of their money back. Angry [:(!]Angry [:(!]Angry [:(!]Angry [:(!]Angry [:(!]Angry [:(!]

They're manufactured, packaged, and at the RC2 warehouse in Illinois. Why in the world stop distribution on a completed production run at that point?

I checked with well known sci-fi web site and they said the refit is NOT cancelledApprove [^] The person I contacted said he should have his in by next week.
Maybe tower hobbies decided not to order for lack of interest. None of the other online stores have said anything about it being cancelled.

I am sure I saw a posting a while back (on some board) that RC announced that the first run was completely sold out. Whoever (Hobby Shops, Retailers, etc...) ordered them would get them but if anyone else tried to order they would be informed that they were sold out.

And a second run would be based on additional demand. If it wasn't there, they would not run any more (hence "discontinued").

Maybe Tower waited to long to put their order in and are out of luck in getting any. And on their website they put "discontinued" as, in their case, unless there is a second run, they are, in all fact, really "discontinued".

Dont worry, we have people outside the distributor's building. As soon as we see white smoke we'll inform the masses.Wink [;)].

That was my post over at Starship modeler, It was based on my what my local hobby shop owner was told at Toy Fair by Rc2 people "unofficially". He was also told not to expect them before June, so take it for what it is worth 2nd hand info.
