Revell AT-RT kit finished
Posted by John P on Sunday, June 5, 2005 9:15 PM
Finished my Revell/Germany AT-RT.

Posed it running, painted it in a decent green camo instead of the standard "Here I Am Shoot Me Now" White.

I didn't do anything with the pilot beyond some dirtying up. I've never had to paint a goddam rubber toy figure before, so I didn't know quite what to do.

The base's "terrain" was made by blobbing on some expandable insulating foam (the spray can type) and making whatever came out look like rocks and dirt. A little paint, a little railroad moss....

One small problem. The can of foam insulation was old, and the nozzle was clogged. The only way I could think of to get it out was to carefully puncture the can with the point of a nail. This had a forseeable, but extreme side effect. I was prepared for it, but it was still... interesting:

I guess I have to make a big diorama now :)

Dang John, that's just outstanding. Very jealous here. I can only take pleasure in knowing that the foam must have made quite the mess!

Very nicely done. I have never actually seen one of these kits built up. Damn, now I have an itch to go back to some sci-fi stuff.

That looks great. Very nice base!

For the rest of the foam, how about a Horta model? Wink [;)]

Oh, nice one. I like the camo.
Is not my favourite starwars vehicle. I feel its missing, at least, a windshield.
I wouldn't dare puncture any spraying can Shock [:O]

More than one person has suggested a Horta for the blob :).

One suggested sticking a cell phone in it for a Jurassic Park III dino dooky diorama.

First off....Great build, I love the camo, good call.
Just to clear the air...The figure is rubber??? Interesting.

Second....you can now make Jabba The Hutt with all the left over foam...Big Smile [:D]

Beautiful build thanks for sharing.

Very nice indeed. I especially like the camo and the base. Where did you get the label at the bottom of the base? From the box? I was attempting to accurize the Re-released AT-ST. Boy are there some major problems on that puppy. I should have never bought the Star Wars Chronicles book.!!
