Battlestar Galactica season 2
Posted by djrost_2000 on Monday, July 18, 2005 12:03 AM
I liked Friday's episode, but I felt it was weak compared to many of the 1st season shows. The part I disliked the most was when the Chief and two others come under fire from Cylon battle models, and then after the comercial break they just walk away with no pursuit by the Cylons. Not that I wanted them to get killed or captured, but just that it made no sense for the Cylons not to pursue.

What does everyone think?

That was a strange part to the show... I noticed the fire from the trees above them but didn't or couldn't tell what was shooting at them... Hopefully next weeks eposod will clear it up.. Overall I still thought it was a great opening for the 2nd season.

But we shall see....

Looks like they picked up right where they left off. Can't wait for next Friday night!
A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if the scene picks up with the Chief returning to find the LT and others bragging about how they had "ambushed" three cylons...

It's entirely possible that it's not Cylon's but someone else shooting at them. Wink [;)]

I agree that it was strange the Cylon's did not press their advantage, and just seemed to 'go away'. On the other hand, there seems to be a whole theme through the series of the Cylons sort of 'herding' the humans, almost manipulating them to do and to go where the Cylons want them to. It almost seems like NOTHING the humans have done was a suprise to the Cylons.
Even when the a-bomb was left inside the base ship, and the replica girl is petting it. They didn't seem too concerned.

Talking about Galactica I wonder when or if we're going to see some model kits from this series? The new Galactica would look real good next to my original.

There's going to be a 7" Galactica from the new series released sometime in the not-too-distant future. Look for the thread here started by Cobywan. Has pics and everything. And all of that is just him warming up for a 1/2500 scale Big G that'll be 22.5" long. Big Smile [:D]

It's also possible that the Cylons weren't interested in killing them, but rather they were herding them (think about how they didn't press the advantage with Helo on Caprica)

That's exactly what I thought but I have a habit of guessing things out loud and ticking off the wife(who, by the way , is actually interested in the series).

My guess is that the shooters will turn out to be humans who thought the chief and the two crewman were humanoid cylons. I really liked this episode, nothing was really resolved leaving some good story lines going.

Perhaps they were being herded, or perhaps they were fighting someone else, thats what makes me keep watching week after week. you just dont know where this story is going. still i'd like to see somebody throw a wrench into the cylons plan(comdr cain?). and did sharon really fly off with the raider?

One of the major networks was showing season 1 episodes last week or the week before. With a bigger viewership maybe there will be a push for model kits? I'd love to do a Cylon battle centurion figure (from the new show). Complete with flip-out weapons. Tongue [:P]

My first thought was the Cylons were herding them, or trying to set them up for something by putting up just enough of a fight. My second thought was that the Lt set up an ambush and actually was teh one attacking, but they were laser weapons firing at the Chief not projectile weapons like the Colonials were using. I like the series because it is unpredictable and very compelling. I love teh continuity and flow of the series, it reminds somwhat of Babylon 5. BSG feels like a novel unfolding the way B5 did and not a series of one off episodes with some minor plot lines that show up every once in a while.
Can't wait to see some model kits.

Sorry to point this out, but they weren't laser weapons - they were slug-throwers of some sort. Lasers don't kick up dirt like those shots did and there were no burns on Tarn from those shots.

and those weren't Cylons firing at them if that was the case there would have been more than 5 "shooters" since each Super Centurian's has 2 guns each so the possibility is the Chief ran into an ambush from humans probably survivors from the original inhabitants of Kobol.
