Hummers on BSG

What's up with all the easily identified trucks on BSG?

The Hummers are close to what the BSG vehicles would look like and they are cheaper??

Cheaper? Perhaps but they sure ruin the illusion.

Yes kinda lame but as one person at SM mentioned better to spend more budget money on space effects than adding a few weird panels to the vehicles. The weapons look familiar too.

Especially the weapons on Caprica, Uzi's, Skorpians, etc.

This show is fast losing its appeal, at least, technology wise.
And I am getting tired of some of the story lines too.
Will keep watching but...

What space effects? We haven't really seen anything major happen this season like last (remember Apollo's raid on the Cylon refinery?).

And keep an eye on Apollo's "new" uniform. I noticed it two weeks ago, again last week and in the previews for the upcoming episode. It's a commercially available digital urban camouflage uniform cut just like the MARPAT cammies. You can order them online.

It's probably done to save money. Although if they are saving money, I would like to also see more f/x in space or at least more of the Cylons on the ground.
Erik "Don't fruit the beer." Newest model buys: More than I care to think about. It's time for a support group.

Well, I you remember, this version of BSG focuses on the people, it gets more personal and it is more like a soap than an all out space battle.
But I`ll still watch it and I think a lot of it is lame (weapons, hummers etc..) I also think this imitates real life in many ways.

I hope they don't save so much money that viewership falls off and it goes the way of Enterprise.

Woody,
I think only of few of us really notice certain things.
The discussion over on starship modeler seems centered around whether the 12 colonies are in one star system, Star system or ... and if only one, why have FTL that Galactica hasn't used for 22 years.
Some people just take things too seriously.

I can't wait to see Serenity on 9/30

Yeah I think some people are forgeting what got us to get into SciFi in the first place.Using our imagination and suspension of belief.
This show IS on a budget, better they go with the familier than no show at all.
