I am fine with it as well. I got my MasterGrade RX-79[G] with some added just a tiny little bit of modifications to do for that period of time. It should come out pretty cool.

All of it looks good to me! Since the AF is taking so long getting me a class seat for my retraining, it looks like I'm in for this GB.

When you go to make the thread, make sure to post the link to it in here. Go ahead and put me down for a High Grade Wing Zero, 1/100.

Okay, I read through a good selection of GB threads. I'm thinking the following:

Subject: Gundam Mecha Model Kits - Any series in any scale and any grade - Including SD kits for those interested.
Start Date: Oct 15
End Date: March 1

As different scales and grade are allowed, some people may complete a much simpler model early in the group build. Those who do are encouraged to build another if they are so inclined. So if you want to slap together a simple non-grade 1/144 to see what this Gundam thing is all about and then want to do a more intense kit, feel free!

A list of those who are in will also be needed. As I said earlier, hosting of images is on me for those who need it.

How about this for a badge?

It's not animated, but I think it'll work. If someone wants to come up with a better one, feel free. I also have the original in a much larger file (300x300ish) so if we need a different size, no problem.

Just look at one of the more established GB threads and use it as a template for what should be on there. Things such as Dates, subject, restrictions, participants and what they're going to be building should all be listed.

I think we're ready to go. Any Gundam series, any scale, starting November 1? Or shall we start Oct 15?

I'm not familiar with the process for starting a Group Build thread on the forums here. Do we just start one outlining the project, dates, etc,.? As I said earlier, anyone who needs pictures hosted can email them to me at nheastvan at yahoo dot com.

Open is totally fine by me.

Anyone else have any start/stop time thoughts? I don't know if the dates I suggested are good for a GB or not.

I think that we should leave it pretty open, since there's so few Gundam modelers out there (at least on this forum). I have no 1/144 scale mecha to build at this time either. I do have a HG and 2 MG kits that would be ripe for building.

I've just got to clear a few of my projects off my bench and I'll be game for this build.

What about a start date for the beginning of November and an end date of Feb 15? That's loads of time for anything but a Master or Perfect Grade 1/60. If people don't paint them, they could finish off a non-grade 1/144 in a single sitting if they really wanted to. I plan on converting mine (I'm going to make the knees actually function as a joint) and airbrushing it. I haven't decided if I'm going to stick with the colour scheme from the cartoon or not.

Shall we just leave it open or go for 1/144? Perhaps open just for simplicity (I'm still going to do a 1/144 kit either way)?

I don't know enough about group builds to know if my suggested time line is too short or too long or what. I'd be willing to start tommorow-- it's simply a matter of me packing away one kit and pulling out another. I'm also going to go Gundam shopping on the weekend.

Zaku is too specific, I just really like them :)

So, is three and a half months too long? too short?

Already got the Ez8, bought it a while back, not sure about the RX-79[G] thought about the GP-02A...but I'm saving for other kits. I've got a yet to be built Mobile Dinn 1/144 I got oh...almost a year ago and never really opened.

YamatoNut, if you got money to shell out i'd say it's totally worth it to get that 20 dollar GP02A and the 15 RX-79[G] n the EZ8. If I hadn't bought them 4 years ago at online hobby shop prices, those are definitely the MG models I'd get my hands on first, n won't feel as sorry to kill them with my lousy painting. lol.

Though I was hoping to put away some MG kits, I'd still be more than happy to roll out some 1/144 kits. I got 3 HGUC Mk-IIs soon as that kit came out but so far only made one and never painted it. So I'd say an Open GB to get more people is awesome, and a basic 1/144 GB is fine with me as well.

No votes for the others as well... I am big fan for the Universal Century saga. The other stories are just too weird for me to watch them a second time. n just plain Zaku is too specific of a topic for this forum since we are already too lacky in gundam builders here.

sounds interesting, dont have much time currently, my MG Kaempfer and MG Char's Zaku were my most recent creations.

OH! Amazon.com is having a "green tag" sale on all MG Gundam models, you can pick up high quality MG models for the 1/44 scale prices. I got my Kaempfer for $19.99 instead of it's normal $69.99 no shipping included there, but it's a good idea if you want to go for better/trickier kits without the worry of expensive costs.

I am also looking for repair help on my PG Titans Gundam MK II, poor fella broke at the waist(fell over) again....

I'm in, as long as I don't have to build a certain grade or era that I would normally not build. Are we thinking a relatively open one or a more limited one (like a specific kit)? If it's a specific kit, I think we should keep it to a smaller scale easier kit. Sort of an "Intro to Gundam" group build. 1/144 would be good for that. I have a 1/144 Duel Gundam from Gundam SEED. It doesn't even have a joint at the knee. I'd love to chop it's legs apart and rebuild them in a group build.

I'm currently building a Bandai G-Roon. I could see myself shelfing the project in order to participate in a group build.

So count me in. Here's my vote for what we should do:
1) Open-- any "Gundam" kit.
2) 1/144 Scale -- Any Gundam series.
3) Any scale from Gundam SEED or SEED DESTINY (the 2 current cartoons -- kit availability is high for these)
4) A Zaku. Any scale, any series. As long as it has "Zaku" in the name. (Zaku's are the most common Zeon mobile suits and there are lots of different kits in different scale/grades to choose from). I currently don't have a Zaku kit, but it's on my list of things to get.

I personally think just sticking with 1/144 would be best. I imagine that most entries will be SEED or SEED DESTINY just because of how common the kits are right now and that they're relatively cheap and good introductions to Gundam building.

Also, I'd like to add that I'm willing to host any pictures that people take for this group build. I've got tons of extra bandwidth and space. email me at nheastvan at yahoo dot com if you're interested in me hosting your pictures. If we come up with a signature badge for the group build, I can host that as well.

if you decide to start it up, which i'd say go for it, i have about 7 MG kits sitting on the shelf waiting for me to touch them at all for the past 4 years while i was in college. i'd support you full heartedly.

A definite maybe for me! My son say's he'll never sit down to build is 1/144 red Astray Gundam and has turned it over to me. I think I can do that with my other two builds going on now.

I've got 3 Gundam kits to build, and the wife has one of her own as well. Give a date and I'll see if I can't join in with my HG 1/100 Wing Zero Custom. Wink [;)]

Well, now's not a good time for me; I don' t have the money to get any new models at the time, and I have to finish building what I've got to boot. Maybe in a few months, but not now. Sad [:(] But I wholeheartedly approve of the idea.

Gundam GB?
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 9:29 AM
Hey all,

I am rather new to the forums, but not the hobby. Recently my friends have gotten me hooked on Gundams and I was posting to see what odds were that we could get a Gundam GB going. Anyone up for it?
