Check out the thrift stores for a globe. Take a look before you buy one but most of the time they are made of styrene. Just strip off the the sticker and SHAZAM you have a sphere around 12" Wink [;)]

Good find! :D

On a trip to Michaels today I was quite overjoyed to find some clear acrylic spheres. I used to buy these things all the time from craft stores but then they stopped getting them in except during the Christmas season and then stopped altogether at least where I live and went to the glass ones. That was eight years ago. So I was all happy happy joy joy to find one of my favorite sci-fi scratch build parts available from a local source again.

They have
60mm aprox. 2 3/8" @ $1.29
80mm aprox. 3" @ $1.29
100mm aprox. 4" @ $1.49

Needless to say I stocked up. The cashier must have thought I was on some kind of ornament making craze Tongue [:P]
