The Neb: Matrix hovercraft scratchbuilt replica
Hello everyone:
I'm quite new on this forum. I've just posted some of my works at the Scratchbuilt forum (as every piece I do is), but been absent for a couple of months finishing this last piece: a 1:72 replica of the Nebuchadnezzar (first Matrix hovercraft) for a fellow modeler from NE - USA
Sorry if this is not precisely a sculpture, but surely is scratchbuilt (I made it from 0)
It's 3 feet (90 cm) long and its weight is about 7 kg. It took me more than 7 months of work.
Hope you like it
CheersGUille
OH.... MY.... GAWD!!!!
That thing is just all around
PHENOMENAL!
Thank you all!
It was a very long lasting/strength-consuming project :( .
Following some pictures of the sbs of construction. Main hull is made of fiber-glass (as small boats are made). The rest is pure scratch :D Pictures are of the initial inner structure made of poliexpan to give basic volume.
All graphic reference was gathered from the net (official and unofficial site pictures, renders from 3D forums, etc). That was another pain in the back.
More soonGUillermo
Thanks for sharing some of the build photos. Would love to see more, especially details on how you built the round lights, the window cockpit, etc.
This is a really great model! You should be working for movie productions!
Thank you people! :) I'm very grateful for all your words and comments.
Some new steps to share:
Here the casting process of previous shown originals (those are for the EM propulsion disks):
Skining Nebs armature:
That is an absolutely outstanding piece of work!
Thank you for sharing the finished work and the progress pix with us.
Thanks once again :)
Although I've made miniatures of that size, in this case I transformed a couple of 1:72 Curtiss SB2C Helldiver pilots that I kept from an old kit. I also use some sprue parts to built the cabin, but mainly scratch and plastic card.
I used their basic volume as I had to sand/cut/transform them to have a very different aspect than a pair of WWII pilots.
Thanks! :)Here some new steps:
Final green-resin/putty coat and initial details to the hullScratchbuilt gunsA couple of WWII 1:72 pilots transformed to Morpheus and co_pilot
Playing with a photo-editor software I combined shots direct from the movie with my own model's pictures. See the results:
Hello! Another further construction steps here:
Painting the cabin Light tests (lots of them) Hull halves waiting lights installation

Please take the time to do a write up on the build and submit it to Fine Scale Modeler for publication.
All the Sci Fi modelers will go crazy!! You have done an awsome job, and that deserves some greater recognition.
