The Fantastic Four's Thing
Posted by MartianGundamModeler on Thursday, December 22, 2005 3:32 PM

This is my vinyl model of the Thing from the Fantastic 4. I beleive it was put out by Horizon. I bought it about 10 years ago or more. I just wasn't pleased with him running around in his "underwear". The clothing was made from tissue as well as the hand rolled cigar. This is only the second vinyl figure I have ever done. He is completely hand painted using craft type acryics. I performed a wash on his rocky hide using sable brown.Though you can see them he also has diamond [not real] cuff links.I also posted this in the figure forume but it should also classify as sci-fi.  Enjoy!

Thanks for the kind words guys, the Thing has always been one of my favorites as well. He, Spider Man, and Iron Man. These characters always had a human side that I could identify with.

Excellent job on the Thing, MGM, the tattered clothes and cigar give him alot of character!

Thanks. I am attempting the same on on a model of Dr. Smith and the Robot. Smith's clothes won't be tattered but he will be wearing his pilot episode Air Force uniform.

Very VERY cool!

Living in a state that just made outdoor smoking essentially illegal (go Washington Disapprove [V]) I simply LOVE the cigar and smoke.  Excellent touch, and the clothing really came out simply fantastic!

All I can say is, "it's clobberin' time!"
