Funny thing about HLJ, they started up thier business because the owners friends in the states couldn't get some things. So they were always buggin him to ship them stuff. Eventually he started up HLJ to take care fo such things.

Which is possibly why buying from them when you are in Japan may be an odd issue. And why thier prices are a bit high in comparison to the non-mail order Japanese model stores. They've also recently moved into the distribution business for hobbby store in the US. Which is great for us.

Do you two work for them or something?.. jokes....

On a serious note, I am not a big fan of HLJ.. I guess you have been lucky or have great patients when it comes to thier service.. I am in the same country, and I find it difficult to get what I want when I want.. I use another company in a different country, and thier products when ordered usually take 3-5 working days to arrive, from time of purchase... Hobby link Japan, I have waited over a week just to get my order processed...

HLJ's processing system takes way too long, and when you look at thier site, they look like they have an awfull lot of stock, but only %20 of the page is in stock.. All I ever see is out of stock, or back ordered?.. I can never get what I want, and so I only order from them when I really need too!.. Thier prices are somewhat a little higher than normal also!

Good thing about living in Japan.. Items such as the Fine Molds stuff, I can get in any Hobby store.. I feel for you guys that have to order!

Chris

I've worked with HLJ many times at they are a great model distributor with an excellent service history. RC2 on the other hand is a toy/model manufacturer.

Fine Molds, the manufacturer of the MF has also had it's issues with meeting deadlines, something like 8 months late producing the Slave One model.

Hobby Link Japan is great. I've made several purchases from them and  had nothing but positive experiences with the service.

Hey Jimmy,

Thanks for the info. I have been thinking about trying HLJ for a while. With them having such a subject and such a strong endorsement from you about their service, it may push me over the edge to try and go with them. (I am currently having issues with Great Models, see the Helo section for my rant SoapBox [soapbox] on that.)

Thanks again,

Keith

How do you like me now??? RC2 take notes on how to run a model(pun, pun, pun) operation.SoapBox [soapbox]

I received my Millenium Falcon via USPS on Christmas Day!   It is worth every penny. The reference picture for painting could actually be used for framing if one wanted to. Cool [8D]

Tell the landlord he'll have to wait till next month for the rent. I'm sure if you explain why he'll understand.Wink [;)]

Please for the love of Pete (who's Pete?) tranfer the rights to all sci fi related projects to Fine Molds. My 2 cents [2c]
