Battle Star Galactica Season premier
Posted by MartianGundamModeler on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 10:43 AM

Well so what are you guys thoughts on it? i am surprised no on started a thread sooner. I thought it was a bit of a let down in that nothing much really happened. It was still a good episode but all it really did was "set the stage". It should have been a 2hr season opener instead of a "to be continued"... :(

Just my My 2 cents [2c].  What are you guys opinons?

I watched it twice ... second time I had it on the background while reading through a couple magazines.

It was a good episode.  Being the 2.0b season opener, I probably had set my expectations higher too.  I have to say that I'm surprised with Roslyn though.  I would have never expected that type of response from her -- telling Adama that he must kill her.  As you said, it really sets the stage for the next.  We have a major offensive operation that's going to take place, the possible destruction of the Resurrection ship which should be a major blow to the Cylons, a possible climax to the conflict between Adama and Cain.  We know that someone is going to pull a gun on Cain, is it really Starbuck as I don't remember if they actually showed the person or not.

Unbelievable, well not really, that Cain would order the civilian ships stripped.  Especially when some of them had weapons and FTL drives.

Now, how loyal do you think the XO of the Pegasus is?

Over the holidays, I watched Season 1 and a couple episodes into Season 2.0.  I didn't realize how much of the show I had missed from Season 1.  I also watched the deleted scenes and thought the deleted scenes from the Season 2 episodes were really good, even adding more to the story -- especially about Tigh and Adama's past.  In contrast, the deleted scenes from Season 1, well I thought it was good they were deleted.  The ones with the kid were really annoying.

I also like how the series also seem to address current day issues within the show.  It's subtle sometimes, but it's there.  Or am I the only one who thinks that?

So... any thoughts on who the other Cylons might be?  Adama?  The one Cylon told Roslyn that Adama was a Cylon, but it could have been simply to cast doubt.  Roslyn?  Why did she have dreams of the one Cylon?  She seems to really resent Cain, if she is a Cylon could the resentment be because Cain is a threat to the Cylons?  Starbuck?  She's just too lucky sometimes.  Baltar?  Most likely.  How else could you explain the interaction with the one Cylon?  Was that video of him sabotaging the colonies computers really him or faked?  How could he have escaped the blast?  The only doubt I have is that the Cylons keep making this reference to him being the chosen one or special or something.

Is it obvious I love the show?  Wink [;)]

That episode were Baltar was "freamed' was weird. There was something about the continuity of that ep that made me think it was all in his head. They try expalian away Roslyn's visions being caused by that drug she is taking not to mention the propheies they were going on about. She stil could be a Cylon heck anyone could be. I just hope Adama better not be, unless he was captured and switched with a cylon only to return later. So long as he is human some where in the universe!lol Yeah Starbuck is way to "lucky" not to mention how in the FRAG did she figure out how to pilot a Cylon raider by pulling on it's "guts" using "trial and errror". Remember the episode where they may have "impregnated her"? this could explain why she is so special. if she is a Cylon she maybe the first cylon to be inmpregnated by Cylon tech rather than a cylon being impregnated by a human. Just guessing of coures. Still I love Roslyn and I'd to see her die but it has been "fortold".lol Anyway I don't find it unusual for Roslyn to suggest assination. She has grown and hardened over the series. And I have to admit, she's absolutely right. Now they do show a gun pointed at Cain but they do not show who is holding it. BSG is notorious for misleading teasers and I love it! you just never know what's going to happen next in the series. Can't you tell i love it too?!!LOL

I don't really watch much TV (since I only get one station and am NOT going to get a satillite... can't get cable either) but I do like to get DVD's of different series.  So, I have to wait and get BSG on dvd which I have.  I did not like the fact that season 2.0 just stopped.  I realize that this is excelate marketing I will simply have to get the next season it's just that I will have to wait many months.  O well that gives me time to actually finish some models.  I must say that this version is less "campy" and I like how the people seem more "real" compared to the original series.  They seem to take lossing their entire space spanning civilzation in a more realistic way.  Also, all of the "heros" have flaws, like all real heros have, yes it's fiction but it has a more realistic flavor the many Reality shows.

Oh well, just can't wait till this Friday to see the 2nd part of the resurrection ship, and who will shoot............................

I missed half of season two because I "got" the British release while season 1 was started in the states and all 13 ep were there so I end up taking  a long break from the series until I realized season 2 had already been aired...

Aside from Adama vs. Cain, will Baltar grant the Cylon on the Pegasus her wish to die?

And what's with that exchange between Starbuck and the Pegasus XO in the hallway during the preview.  Do they know or suspect that each other is up to something or maybe they're conspiring amongst themselves?  Can't wait!

BTW, has anyone been listening / watching the commentaries?  I'd like to at some point, but haven't yet.  I know they're available on iTunes.

SPOILERS below if you haven seen it!

Don't forget there are at least two #6's running around in the fleet. Remember the number 6 that tried to set up Baltar? She escaped too but I would have assumed she went back to the Cylons since they searched the entire fleet for her and never found her. There are probly cylon "safe houses" within the fleet. I am certain that Baltar helped this 6 to escape.

That ending was a heck of a twist. I thought for sure  that is was going to be Cain's XO with the gun drawn on her. The only thing I was certain of was that it wasn't going to be Starbuck because the previews are always misleading! I LOVE THIS SHOW! Still I think they should not have killed of Cain. Though she changed her mind about assasinating Adama, they still could have given her a little longer to futher try to redeem herself. Well at least we have two Battle Stars now!! Anyone seen any good pics of the Pegasus on the net? I'm gonna go look for some...

It was a good episode, although 1) I wish they showed more of the battle and 2) the ending came too quick.  Once Cain was shot, next thing they showed was everyone lined up giving her full military honors.  I would have liked to have seen more about what happened inbetween.  Who found Cain, how the Pegasus crew reacted, how Adama and Roslyn reacted to the news, etc.

Baltar definitely helped the #6 who shot Cain get away.  My money is that she's being harbored on Colonial One, not Galactica.  (Is Roslyn a Cylon??)

So Cain's XO would have likely gone through with taking over the Galactica.  I'm disappointed.  I thought he was better than that, although you have to respect his loyalty.  Would Adama and Tigh have been totally clueless about the transfer of those Marines?  Adama was perhaps too busy, but Tigh?  I think he's smarter than that.

I really hope that they show more of the battle scenes when the DVD comes out.  The Pegasus and Galactica going against the Base Stars -- the few scenes they showed were awesome.

And what's with Apollo?

You're right, not enough of the battle was displayed. However I am still not convinced that the Pegus XO would have gone through with it. It wasn't easy for him but hewas really between a rock and a hard place. Hard to chicken out with a bunch of "loyal" marines standing outside the door. I think you are right about Tigh as well.Lately they have been playing down his intellegince and I really do wish they would let him shine a little more like they did earlier in the series. He's stern but he always demonstrated that he had what it took to get the job done. One big complaint I have about the series as well is when it jumps around like skipping the announcement of Caine's death. I would have liked to have seen the reactions as well. Not to mention all the finger pointing that would have taken place before they determined it was the Cylon who did it, because who would have known. Cain, the victim, was the only witness and only the dead guard and Baltar were present when she escaped.

But yeah we really got cheated in the battle sequence but none the less still a great episode. We lost the Black bird and gained a late model Battle Star full of vipers! Though i'll miss the Black I have to admit that is a more than fair trade. Well I hope they build another even better "Bird". Besides it was unrealistic to continue the way they were going with only the one Battle Star and the few refurbed Vipers they had. I wish they had done the same thing on Voyager when the Equinox showed up which strangly was more banged up than Voyager which never seemed to have a scratch on it.

Exactly!  I can't imagine they were like, "Oh, Cain is dead.  Okay, let's move on."  Who found her, what was their reaction, where was the Pegasus' XO when he found out?  How long did it take to piece the dead guard and the missing Cylon together?  They could have easily added 20 minutes to the combined part I & II.

So does Roslyn die in the next episode?   The preview makes it appear as though she does or possibly there's a cure from the Cylon fetus?  So that means neither will happen?  Only a few more days...

Man, the discovery of Cains body could have been and episode all to itself! The search of the fleet for the missing cylon and not to mention Baltars cobble together explaination of how she escaped. Roslyn, actually anybody, could be a cylon but I don't think the cylon is on Colonial one. Hmmmm, however the thought does come to mind as to why Ros flushed that cylon out the airlock when his body would have been of TREMENDOUS value to Baltar for his "Cylon Detector". That has always puzzeled me. Here is the first capured humaniod cylon and you flush him and his body out the airlock!! Come on! If Ros was a cylon she would know that he would downlaod into another body so flushing him would be no big deal and would put on an excellent show of her "ability to be stern" rather than a "softy" to the Colonials. Also it would prevent valuable info from being  forced out of him to the fleet and killing him would allow him to take what he has learned back to the Cylons when he downloads.

I love the character of Ros and I hate to think these things about her but this is some strong circumstantial evidence IMHO. No to metion Adama seems to be taking a shine to her similar to how Adama and the old President started to get a fling going. Please don't do this to me ROSLYN don't be a Cylon!! Sad [:(]

(Edit: and notice I didn't mention anything about the visions she was having that were supposed be brought on by her medication, that's a whole other subject entirely. I want to beleive it's the medication.lol)

I don't think Rosyln is going to die anytime soon, she's far too important to the story. There are rumors about how she is 'saved' on a few sites (Gateworld for sure), but nothing concrete.  I hope the Peg is around a lot longer than a few more episodes, how cool is it to have two entire battlestars to toy around with in the storylines now...

If you visit the SciFi site for Battlestar Galactica, there's a banner across the top that says you can buy episodes from iTunes.  When I clicked on it, it opened iTunes and displayed all the episodes for Season 2 for $1.99 each.  It had all of them through last weeks.  I believe the episodes are available the next day (Saturday).

BTW, I came across an interview with Ron Moore on the Chicago Tribune website.  There's some interesting information about the upcoming episodes (spoilers).
