Pilot Episode Dr. Smith and Robot B-9 WIP
Posted by MartianGundamModeler on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 10:47 AM

This is my Work In Progress (WIP) for my Pilot Episode/ First Season Dr. Smith and Robot project. I am using the PL Dr. Smith and Robot B-9 kit which has a late series Robot and and Dr. Smith. I am going to paint the robot in his Pilot Episode colors and Dr. Smith will be dressed in his Air Force jump suit which he wore in the pilot. To do do this I have sanded off the the costume details on the figure and will be covering the body with hand cut tissue to make the jump suit and tie, much the same way I did with my model of the Thing. I am using ref photos for the jump suit from Lostinspacetv.com. The rtobot will talk using a voice recording circuit from Radio Shack. I was going to use the voice from my two Trendmaster Robot toys (bit the movie and tv vesion have the same voice actor). But the web site has sound bites of the robot I can use! Assorted LEDs will fill the robot's interior.

A figure of Capatin Archer from Enterprise is acting as my "jump suit" model so that I can get the seams right. Smith's turtle neck has been sanded off...

I made cuts in the lower torso so that the tabs on the uper torso ring will lock into place with a half turn like on military tank kits.
